Sample interview questions
How would you ensure that a new partner completes every stage of the onboarding process?

I would begin by setting clear expectations, milestones, ownership, and deadlines during the first call. I would document progress in a shared tracker or CRM, send concise follow-ups after each meeting, and proactively contact the partner when attendance or action items are at risk. I would also communicate blockers early to the relevant Program Manager.

How do you explain a new process to a partner who is uncertain about its value?

I first ask questions to understand the partner’s goals and concerns. I then connect the process to practical outcomes, use simple examples, and confirm understanding through a recap or demonstration. This keeps the conversation relevant and creates confidence in the program.

Describe how you would handle a partner who repeatedly misses onboarding calls.

I would contact the partner directly to understand whether scheduling, expectations, or another barrier is causing the missed sessions. I would restate the importance of onboarding readiness, offer reasonable rescheduling options, and document the agreed plan. If engagement remains low, I would escalate appropriately while maintaining a constructive relationship.

How would you manage competing priorities when several partners need onboarding support at the same time?

I would prioritize work using onboarding deadlines, partner readiness, program impact, and risk of delay. I would maintain a clear schedule, standardize repeatable communication, and reserve time for urgent issues. Regular visibility into the pipeline would help me coordinate capacity with the Program Management team.

What makes a handoff from an Onboarding Manager to a Program Manager successful?

A successful handoff occurs when the partner understands the program, has completed required actions, knows what success looks like, and has clear next steps. I would provide the Program Manager with a concise record of attendance, completed tasks, goals, concerns, and any follow-up commitments so the relationship can continue without friction.
