Sample interview questions
I prepare thoroughly by reviewing the protocol, monitoring plan, prior visit reports, and outstanding action items before each contact. During visits, I verify source data, informed-consent documentation, investigational product accountability, and essential documents, then document findings clearly and agree on corrective actions with the site.
I would first determine the root causes through a focused discussion and review of screening, recruitment, and data-management processes. I would create a practical recovery plan with measurable actions, timelines, and escalation points, while keeping the project team informed of risks and progress.
I would promptly assess participant safety and the deviation's impact on data integrity, verify the available source information, and notify the investigator and internal study team according to the study procedures. I would ensure it is documented, reported where required, and followed by appropriate corrective and preventive actions.
I prioritize and manage my monitoring activities independently, but communicate risks, milestones, and decisions early through concise written updates and scheduled team discussions. This keeps sites supported and ensures project stakeholders can address issues before they affect timelines or quality.
Oncology trials often involve complex eligibility criteria, safety monitoring, biomarkers, and time-sensitive treatment pathways. Relevant experience helps a CRA recognize study-specific risks, communicate effectively with sites, and protect both participant safety and data quality.
