Sample interview questions
How have you scaled a customer support or contact-center organization while maintaining service quality?

I start by defining a clear operating model, capacity assumptions, service tiers, and leading indicators such as forecast accuracy, adherence, quality, and backlog. I then align hiring, training, knowledge management, and workforce planning to demand, while reviewing performance routinely and removing systemic constraints.

Describe an AI or automation initiative that improved service operations.

I would identify a high-volume, repeatable workflow with measurable friction, validate the use case with frontline teams, and pilot an automation or agent-assist solution. I would measure effects on handle time, quality, resolution rate, customer satisfaction, and cost-to-serve before scaling it with governance and change management.

How would you manage operations during a major travel disruption or irregular operation?

I would activate a predefined incident structure with real-time demand monitoring, clear escalation paths, prioritized customer segments, and frequent stakeholder communications. The team would use updated knowledge content, staffing contingencies, and post-incident reviews to restore service quickly and strengthen future readiness.

How do you balance customer experience with operational efficiency and cost control?

I use a segmented service strategy that matches support investment to customer needs and business value. Decisions should be guided by a balanced scorecard covering customer satisfaction, resolution quality, SLA attainment, productivity, retention risk, and cost-to-serve rather than by a single efficiency metric.

How do you gain alignment from Product and Engineering partners on operational improvements?

I translate frontline pain points into quantified business cases, including customer impact, operational effort, expected savings, and measurable success criteria. I prioritize jointly, provide reliable operational data and user feedback, and maintain shared accountability through implementation and outcome review.
