Sample interview questions
I would begin by mapping the customer’s legal entities, chart of accounts, approval flows, accounting close process, and existing ERP integration landscape. I would identify data ownership, required synchronization points, security constraints, exceptions, and success metrics, then document a phased architecture that balances immediate needs with long-term scalability.
I would first isolate whether the issue is related to authentication, API permissions, data mapping, configuration, workflow dependencies, or downstream accounting rules. I would review logs and reproduce the issue where possible, communicate clear findings and next actions to stakeholders, and create a durable remediation or documented workaround.
I connect technical concepts to business outcomes, such as reliable invoice posting, accurate coding, faster close cycles, and reduced manual reconciliation. I use simple process diagrams, clarify what information moves between systems and when, and describe risks and trade-offs in terms of controls, effort, and operational impact.
I would clarify the underlying business requirement and evaluate whether existing configuration, process changes, or Ramp APIs can meet it without creating unsustainable customization. If a product gap remains, I would document the use case, scale potential, technical implications, and customer impact for Product and Engineering while setting transparent expectations with the customer.
I would measure time-to-value, activation completion, integration reliability, transaction and synchronization success rates, reconciliation accuracy, reduction in manual work, and adoption of key accounting workflows. I would also track customer satisfaction, support volume after launch, and whether the solution supports expansion across entities or use cases.

About Ramp
Ramp is building the smart infrastructure for finance teams, embedded in the transaction flow of every dollar a business spends. We automate how over $275B in annualized spend flows in and out of 85,000+ companies: authorizing payments, flagging risk, categorizing spend, and closing books.
The problems are high-stakes, data-dense, and unforgiving.
We hire people with high agency and high urgency. We look for slope over intercept. We care less about where you trained and more about what you’ve built. At Ramp, everyone is a builder who owns problems end to end and makes consequential decisions that shape the outcome.
