Sample interview questions
How would you build a new sales pipeline across a large rural territory?

I would segment the territory by farm type, herd size, readiness for technology, and local industry networks. I would combine targeted outbound outreach with referrals, agricultural events, producer groups, and disciplined follow-up in a CRM, then prioritise opportunities based on customer fit and likely value.

Describe how you would communicate Halter’s value to a beef producer who is sceptical of new technology.

I would first understand their current grazing, labour, fencing, and animal-management challenges. I would connect Halter’s capabilities to measurable operational outcomes, use relevant customer examples, address implementation concerns directly, and agree on clear success measures rather than relying on technical claims alone.

What would you do if a newly signed customer experienced challenges during deployment?

I would take ownership of communication, acknowledge the impact, and quickly coordinate with Support and implementation stakeholders. I would set expectations for next steps, keep the customer updated, verify resolution, and document the learning so similar issues can be prevented.

How do you balance winning new business with supporting existing customers?

I use a structured territory plan with protected time for prospecting, active opportunities, strategic account reviews, and urgent customer needs. Existing customers are vital for retention, expansion, and referrals, so I would prioritise issues by customer impact while maintaining consistent pipeline-building activity.

Tell us about a time you used customer feedback to influence an internal team.

In a strong example, I would gather specific evidence on the customer problem, including frequency, business impact, and examples from multiple accounts. I would present the insight clearly to the relevant team, collaborate on a practical response, and close the loop with customers so they know their feedback informed action.
