About Halter
Halter Limited is an innovative agriculture technology company founded in 2016 and headquartered in Auckland, New Zealand. The company specializes in virtual fencing technology and livestock management solutions to help modernize and improve productivity in pasture-based farming. Halter develops solar-powered smart collars that enable farmers to remotely manage their herds by shifting, virtually fencing, and proactively monitoring their cows’ health and behavior. This technology allows farmers to increase grass growth, milk production, and animal well-being, all while reducing the labor-intensive demands typical of conventional farming.
The company’s hardware team faced unique challenges during development, such as creating ultra-durable solar panels similar to bullet-proof glass that could withstand the harsh conditions on farms. Halter also demonstrated resilience and hands-on problem solving by manually constructing towers essential for their cattle management system when conventional suppliers and equipment were inaccessible.
Backed by Tier 1 investors including DCVC, Blackbird Ventures, Promus Ventures, and Rocket Lab’s Peter Beck, Halter has successfully raised over $113 million in funding to date, propelling its growth and adoption in the agtech sector. Their approach bridges deep technology with real-world farming practices, revolutionizing livestock management and enabling a more sustainable agriculture industry.
The company operates not only out of New Zealand but has a presence across five continents, promoting its vision globally. Its product offering is employed by farmers who value innovation that transforms traditional farming into a less laborious, more efficient, and animal-friendly practice. Halter is also known for fostering a vibrant company culture with a hybrid work environment, supporting both remote work and in-person collaboration.
Through its cutting-edge technology and dedicated team, Halter continues to drive the future of farming, allowing farmers to manage large herds effortlessly, improving productivity, sustainability, and animal health on farms worldwide.
