Core skills

Sample interview questions
How would you conduct a technical discovery call with an MSP evaluating a cybersecurity platform?

I would begin by understanding the MSP's customer profile, tool stack, security operations maturity, and key operational pain points. I would then ask focused questions about endpoint visibility, alert triage, incident response, integrations, and reporting needs. Finally, I would map the platform's relevant capabilities to measurable outcomes and agree on clear evaluation criteria for the next step.

Describe how you would explain threat detection value to a C-level buyer and a security analyst in the same meeting.

For the executive, I would focus on business risk, operational resilience, reduced response burden, and the impact on customer trust. For the analyst, I would explain detection logic, telemetry, workflow integrations, alert quality, and response procedures. I would connect both perspectives by showing how technical capabilities produce the business outcomes the executive values.

What factors would you evaluate when integrating a security product with a customer's SIEM?

I would assess available data sources, log formats, API or connector support, alert routing, enrichment requirements, retention needs, and the customer's existing triage workflow. I would also validate deployment ownership, access controls, expected alert volume, and success metrics. This ensures the integration is operationally useful rather than simply technically possible.

Tell us about a time you handled a difficult technical objection during a sales cycle.

I would first clarify the underlying concern rather than immediately countering it. Then I would use evidence such as architecture details, a relevant demonstration, documentation, or a proof-of-value plan to address the concern directly. I would summarize the agreed next step and involve the appropriate internal technical stakeholder if deeper validation were needed.

How do you prioritize opportunities when supporting several account executives in a fast-moving environment?

I prioritize based on deal stage, technical risk, customer impact, revenue potential, and time-sensitive commitments. I maintain transparent expectations with account executives, use repeatable discovery and demo assets where appropriate, and escalate blockers early. This approach protects critical opportunities while ensuring each customer receives an organized technical experience.
