Sample interview questions
How would you turn audience research into a cross-channel connections strategy for a new client?

I would begin by aligning on the business objective, priority audience, and decision to be influenced. I would synthesize behavioral, cultural, category, and competitive research into actionable audience tensions, map key moments across the journey, and identify the role each channel should play. I would then define investment principles, creative and media implications, and outcome-focused measurement criteria.

Describe how you evaluate whether a consumer journey framework is useful rather than simply descriptive.

A useful journey framework links real audience needs and behaviors to decisions the team can make. It should identify moments that matter, barriers and motivations, channel roles, and measurable actions—not just list touchpoints. I validate it with available audience and performance data, then use it to guide media allocation, messaging, and optimization.

How do you present a strategic recommendation when the available data is incomplete or contradictory?

I clearly separate confirmed facts, directional signals, and assumptions. I triangulate multiple sources, explain the implications and confidence level of each finding, and recommend an approach that can be tested and refined. This keeps stakeholders moving forward while maintaining analytical rigor and transparency.

What metrics would you use to measure a full-funnel media strategy beyond clicks?

The framework should reflect the client’s commercial objective and include a combination of reach and attention, brand awareness or consideration, qualified engagement, conversion quality, incremental sales or leads, and customer value where available. I also establish leading indicators and experiment designs so the team can understand contribution across touchpoints rather than over-crediting the last interaction.

How would you build trust with senior clients while challenging an existing media approach?

I would first understand the client’s objectives, constraints, and prior learning, then frame the recommendation around their business priorities rather than a preferred channel. I would use evidence to show the opportunity, acknowledge uncertainty, and provide a clear test-and-learn plan with decision points. Consistent follow-through and transparent reporting are essential to turning a challenge into a trusted partnership.
