Sample interview questions
Describe how you would diagnose a hardware outage at a remote farm site.

I would first gather available telemetry and incident details to narrow down likely causes. At the site, I would systematically inspect power, connectivity, physical condition, and device configuration, documenting findings and restoring service through the safest practical fix. I would then communicate the root cause and recommend preventive actions.

How do you prioritise several urgent field issues across different customer locations?

I assess customer impact, operational risk, safety, and the likelihood that an issue can be resolved remotely. I communicate priorities and expected response times clearly, group travel where practical, and keep stakeholders updated as priorities change.

What experience do you have with electrical work, tools, networking, or equipment installation?

I have practical experience using tools and following safe procedures to install, inspect, repair, and test field equipment. I can troubleshoot common power and connectivity faults, learn unfamiliar systems quickly, and escalate issues appropriately when specialist support is needed.

How would you use field data to improve infrastructure reliability?

I would review incident patterns, device performance data, repair histories, and environmental conditions to identify recurring failure modes. I would turn those findings into maintenance schedules, installation improvements, spare-parts planning, or product feedback for the hardware team.

This role includes substantial travel and on-call support. How would you remain effective?

I plan routes and work carefully, maintain accurate job notes, and prepare equipment and spares before travelling. During on-call periods, I would respond calmly, follow a structured troubleshooting process, and communicate clearly so incidents are resolved efficiently without compromising safety.
