About this role.
About Solace
Healthcare in the U.S. is fundamentally broken. The system is so complex that 88% of U.S. adults do not have the health literacy necessary to navigate it without help. Solace cuts through the red tape of healthcare by pairing patients with expert advocates and giving them the tools to make better decisions—and get better outcomes.
We’re a Series C startup, founded in 2022 and backed by Inspired Capital, Craft Ventures, Torch Capital, Menlo Ventures, Signalfire, and IVP. Our U.S. based team is lean, mission-driven, and growing quickly.
Solace isn’t a place to coast. We’re here to redefine healthcare—and that demands urgency, precision, and heart. If you’re looking to stretch yourself, sharpen your edge, and do the best work of your life alongside a team that cares deeply, you’re in the right place. We’re intense, and we like it that way.

About the Role
As a Registered Nurse (RN) Healthcare Advocate with Solace, you’ll work with patients throughout their healthcare journey.
In the RN Advocate role, you will guide patients through difficult and complex health concerns and help them achieve their health and wellness goals while also addressing their Social Determinants of Health (SDOH). You’ll be an empathetic listener and an action-oriented guide who will work to actually resolve patient’s problems.
Worth flagging up front: This is a 1099 Contract position, benefits are not included. It is simply a flat hourly rate. You control your calendar. Full-time, part-time, or somewhere in the middle. The role is entirely remote. You’ll connect with patients by video or phone, never in person.
What You’ll Do
Learn Solace’s proprietary system, tools, technology, and expectations, while also providing your unique experience in every interaction.
Build strong, trusting relationships with patients, where listening and empathy are the foundation for every interaction.
Be able to identify and prioritize patients’ needs and build out a care plan to ensure consistent action over time.
Develop comprehensive patient care plans that holistically address social determinants of health, i.e. food resources, transportation access, and support at home.
What You Bring to the Table
Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing.
Experience working with diverse patient populations.
Empathy: You care deeply about people and have a drive to fight for those who can’t fight for themselves.
Clinical and Organizational Skills: As an experienced RN, you can balance multiple tasks and work under pressure.
Technical Adaptation: You’re able to learn new systems quickly and efficiently.
A Bias Toward Action: When you see something needs to get done, you step in and take care of it.
Applicants must be based in the United States.

Sample interview questions
I would first listen carefully to understand the patient’s priorities, immediate concerns, and barriers. I would organize the issues into a clear care plan, explain options in understandable language, coordinate appropriate resources, and establish specific follow-up actions so the patient knows what will happen next.
I assess practical factors that can affect outcomes, such as transportation, food access, housing stability, caregiver support, health literacy, and affordability. I then connect the patient with relevant community, payer, or provider resources and incorporate those actions into the care plan alongside clinical needs.
I create trust by being present, listening without judgment, confirming my understanding, and communicating clearly about what I can do. I set realistic expectations, follow through on commitments, and adapt my communication style to the patient’s health literacy and emotional state.
I triage based on clinical urgency, safety risk, time-sensitive care needs, and the potential consequences of delay. I document priorities, communicate proactively when timelines change, and use organized task management to ensure that important follow-ups are completed.
It means taking ownership of solvable barriers rather than only identifying them. For example, after recognizing that transportation is preventing care access, I would promptly research options, help coordinate the next step, confirm the patient understands the plan, and track whether the barrier was resolved.
