The role, at a glance.
Zip is hiring a senior technical architect to standardize and scale Oracle EBS R12 integrations for its enterprise procurement platform. The role designs reusable ERP integration templates, data mappings, APIs, and implementation standards while working closely with engineering, product, design, and pre-sales teams. Candidates need deep Oracle Purchasing, Payables, and General Ledger expertise, plus hands-on experience with Open Interface Tables, PL/SQL APIs, ISG, REST/SOAP, XML, and authentication. This is an engineering-oriented solutions role requiring both high-level architecture skills and practical troubleshooting of integration configurations. It is a remote full-time role associated with Toronto, Canada.

Sample interview questions
I would first define the canonical purchase-order data model and map it to the relevant Oracle Purchasing entities, required validations, defaults, and error states. I would select the appropriate integration mechanism, such as interface tables or public APIs, build idempotent processing and reconciliation steps, and document configurable customer-specific fields separately from the core template.
I evaluate Oracle-supported patterns, transaction volume, business-process requirements, validation behavior, error handling, security, and maintainability. Public APIs are generally preferable when they provide supported business logic, while interface tables can be appropriate for high-volume or batch-oriented processing when their import controls and reconciliation paths are well understood.
I would establish the failed transaction scope, correlation identifiers, timestamps, and business impact before reviewing application logs, API responses, payloads, authentication events, and Oracle interface or concurrent-program errors. I would identify whether the issue is caused by data quality, mappings, connectivity, permissions, or downstream processing, communicate status clearly, and implement a safe retry or remediation plan with preventive monitoring where possible.
I separate truly customer-specific policy from patterns that recur across implementations, then document the common data model, configuration points, assumptions, and edge cases. I validate the proposed standard with engineering and product partners, create a versioned template and implementation guidance, and use feedback from subsequent deployments to improve it.
I would frame the constraint in terms of the business outcome, such as approval timing, supplier data quality, or accounting accuracy, rather than internal system terminology. I would explain the available options, trade-offs, risks, and recommended path in clear language, while providing technical detail separately for the customer’s IT team.

Your Role
We’re looking for a Solution Integrations Architect to help build the technical foundation that powers Zip’s ERP and integration ecosystem. This role focuses on internal technical enablement, navigating complex customer environments to architect the cleanest possible solutions, partnering closely with Product, and driving best-in-class standards across all of Zip’s integration workflows – with a specific focus on the Oracle ecosystem.
As Zip continues to scale rapidly across enterprise customers like Coinbase, Notion, Canva, Samsara, Snowflake, and Databricks, your impact will be foundational: creating reusable integration assets, defining standards of how the Zip product interacts with external systems.
You Will
You’ll work closely with our Engineering, Product, and Design (EPD) teams while reporting to Engineering to design, maintain, and iterate on Zip-owned ERP and integration templates that power scalable, repeatable customer implementations. Your work will directly influence how hundreds of future implementations are delivered, raising the technical bar for both our EPD teams and our customer-facing technical consultant organization.
Architect & standardize Oracle R12 integrations: Design, maintain, and iterate on Zip’s core Oracle EBS R12 integration templates, ensuring they deliver scalable, repeatable, and robust customer implementations.
Bridge product & the field: Work closely with Engineering, Product, and Design (EPD) to ensure integration templates stay perfectly aligned with core product architecture, field insights, and emerging customer needs.
Turn nuance into scale: Analyze complex customer implementations to identify reusable data mapping patterns and system nuances, converting bespoke solutions into standardized internal assets.
Support pre-sales engineering: Partner with account teams during pre-sales to design and vet integration architectures, ensuring prospective customers are set up for smooth, best-practice deployments.
Drive technical implementation excellence: Define, document, and champion technical solution consulting best practices, raising the technical bar and driving consistency across all implementations.
Become a Multi-ERP expert: Leverage your existing Oracle EBS, P2P, and financial systems expertise to build deep fluency across additional ERP ecosystems, ultimately becoming the ultimate subject matter expert on integration architecture, data models, and Zip’s App Studio.
Build for permanent scale: Approach every technical challenge with an engineering mindset – designing and executing a solution thoroughly once so that future implementations happen effortlessly. You balance high-level architectural design with a willingness to dive directly into API configurations and template modifications to get the job done right.
Qualifications
6+ years of hands-on experience delivering integrations with Oracle EBS or Oracle environments.
Strong foundational knowledge of core Oracle EBS business processes, schema layouts, and data models, specifically within Oracle Purchasing (PO), Payables (AP), and General Ledger (GL).
Familiarity with standard Oracle EBS integration methods, including Open Interface Tables, Public APIs/PL-SQL Packages, Oracle Integrated SOA Gateway (ISG), and REST/SOAP services.
Familiarity with iPaaS tools is preferred, but we welcome candidates with strong core integration logic who can learn new platform tools quickly.
Experience working with XML / REST based endpoints and standard authentication protocols.
Past ERP implementation, integration, configuration or administration experience is required.
Ability to translate highly technical information for audiences with varying degrees of technical knowledge.
Comfortable working with API documentation.
Comfortable testing and troubleshooting integration errors.
Able to understand customer requirements and document that information quickly, with little oversight
A continual learner and open to learning new technologies that Zip may integrate with in the future.
Strong communication skills.
Extreme attention to detail and pride yourself in being incredibly proactive.
Experience working with product and engineering teams.
Process-driven with a strong bias toward continuous improvement; you consistently look for opportunities to make systems better than you found them through systematic improvement.
