Sample interview questions
I would begin with a technical crawl, analytics review, Search Console analysis, keyword and intent research, and competitor benchmarking. I would then prioritize fixes and growth opportunities by expected business impact, including content, internal linking, structured data, and entity coverage. For AI search, I would assess whether content is clearly structured, authoritative, current, and easily interpretable by retrieval and answer systems.
I connect each recommendation to a business outcome such as discoverability, qualified traffic, conversion opportunity, or reduced indexation risk. I use plain language, show evidence from data or examples, define effort and expected impact, and provide a phased implementation plan that gives stakeholders clear next steps.
I would use a combination of organic sessions, conversions, revenue or lead quality where available, impressions, clicks, click-through rate, rankings by intent group, indexation health, and technical issue trends. I would also evaluate visibility for priority topics and monitor AI-search referral or citation signals where reliable measurement is available.
I maintain a prioritized roadmap for each account based on business impact, urgency, dependencies, and client commitments. I establish recurring reporting and strategy rhythms, communicate risks early, document decisions, and reserve time for reactive requests while protecting high-impact planned work.
I follow official search-engine guidance, trusted industry research, platform documentation, and controlled tests across client sites. I validate changes against performance data rather than reacting to headlines alone, then share concise implications and recommended actions with clients and internal teams.
