Sample interview questions
Describe a time you diagnosed and resolved a technical equipment issue in the field.

I would explain the issue's operational impact, how I made the situation safe, the diagnostic checks I performed, and the repair or escalation path I used. I would also describe how I validated the fix and documented the root cause to prevent recurrence.

How would you prioritize several infrastructure faults while supporting farms across a large region?

I would rank incidents by safety risk, customer operational impact, system criticality, and the availability of workarounds. I would communicate expected response times, group travel where practical, and keep stakeholders updated until each issue is resolved.

What is your approach to maintaining hardware that operates in harsh outdoor conditions?

I would use a preventive-maintenance plan covering physical inspection, environmental wear, power and connectivity checks, firmware status, and spare-parts readiness. Trend data and repeat-failure analysis would help me adjust inspection intervals and improve reliability.

How do you communicate technical findings to both customers and engineering teams?

For customers, I would use clear, practical language focused on impact, next steps, and expected timelines. For engineering teams, I would provide structured evidence such as logs, photos, device history, environmental context, reproduction steps, and observed patterns.

This role includes on-call work and frequent travel. How would you remain effective under these conditions?

I would plan routes and equipment carefully, maintain an organized inventory, and set clear expectations with customers and colleagues. During on-call incidents, I would follow a consistent triage process, escalate appropriately, document decisions, and protect recovery time so I can sustain reliable performance.
