Sample interview questions
I would segment traders by behavior, lifecycle stage, instrument usage, and retention patterns, then identify funnel drop-offs and high-value cohorts. I would quantify the expected impact, validate the problem with qualitative feedback where available, and prioritize an experiment based on user value, business impact, confidence, and delivery effort.
I would define a primary outcome metric such as successful trade conversion or retained active traders, supported by activation, feature adoption, order completion, latency, error rate, and risk-related guardrails. I would compare performance against a baseline or controlled experiment and monitor both immediate and longer-term cohort effects.
Key concepts include leverage, margin, liquidation, funding rates, mark price, order types, position modes, and realized versus unrealized P&L. Product decisions should make these mechanics understandable while preserving speed, clarity, and appropriate risk controls.
I start by framing a decision and defining the relevant user behavior, success metric, and comparison groups. I then clean and explore the data, test hypotheses, quantify the opportunity, document assumptions and limitations, and present a recommendation with expected impact and a practical validation plan.
I would align the group on the user problem, business objective, constraints, and non-negotiable risk requirements. I would use data and clear trade-offs to evaluate options, propose a compliant minimum viable approach where needed, assign decision owners, and document the rationale and success measures.
