Sample interview questions
How have you ensured that analysis datasets and TLFs are accurate, traceable, and ready for regulatory submission?

I establish documented specifications, implement independent quality-control checks, maintain traceability from source data through outputs, and retain version-controlled validation evidence. I also review outputs with biostatistics and data management early to resolve issues before final submission milestones.

Describe an R package you developed or maintained for a regulated statistical programming environment.

I would describe the package's purpose, controlled repository and dependency strategy, testing approach, documentation, versioning, and validation record. I would emphasize how reusable functions reduced manual work while preserving reproducibility and auditability across studies.

What is your approach to leading programmers while remaining hands-on with technical delivery?

I set clear ownership, quality standards, and delivery milestones, then use regular technical reviews and mentoring to remove blockers. I stay involved in high-risk design decisions and critical deliverables while giving team members meaningful responsibility for their work.

How would you prepare programming deliverables for a 510(k), CTA/CDx, or PMA submission?

I would align deliverables to the statistical analysis plan and submission requirements, confirm dataset and output specifications, enforce controlled-environment validation, and maintain complete documentation. I would coordinate closely with regulatory, clinical, biostatistics, and quality stakeholders to ensure consistency and inspection readiness.

How would you use an R Shiny dashboard to support clinical study monitoring and data review?

I would first define decisions the dashboard must support, then create validated views for enrollment, data completeness, safety or endpoint trends, and data-quality signals. Access controls, reproducible data refreshes, clear metric definitions, and user feedback would be essential for reliable use in a regulated setting.
