Sample interview questions
How would you build an account plan for a strategic public-sector customer in Germany?

I would map the customer’s organizational structure, procurement process, strategic programs, technical landscape, and key decision-makers. I would then identify measurable DevSecOps outcomes, establish a multi-threaded engagement plan, align internal GitLab resources, and define milestones for discovery, evaluation, rollout, adoption, and expansion.

Describe how you would position GitLab to a senior executive focused on security, compliance, and delivery speed.

I would connect GitLab’s integrated DevSecOps platform to the executive’s business priorities: reducing toolchain complexity, improving governance and traceability, embedding security earlier in development, and accelerating secure delivery. I would use the customer’s current-state metrics and risks to build a value case with measurable operational and compliance outcomes.

How do you manage a complex sales cycle involving solutions architects, customer success, partners, and executives?

I create a mutual action plan with clear ownership, customer milestones, decision criteria, and communication cadence. Internally, I run regular deal reviews to align technical validation, commercial strategy, partner activity, and executive sponsorship while ensuring the customer receives a coordinated experience.

What would you do if an existing strategic customer has low product adoption after purchase?

I would first diagnose adoption barriers using usage data, stakeholder interviews, and success-plan objectives. I would coordinate with customer success and technical teams to establish a targeted enablement and rollout plan, measure progress against agreed outcomes, and reconnect adoption improvements to the customer’s original business case.

How have you recovered an enterprise opportunity that appeared likely to be lost?

I would reassess the loss reasons, validate stakeholder priorities, and identify whether the issue is value, technical fit, procurement, timing, or competitive positioning. I would then rebuild the engagement around the customer’s most urgent outcomes, bring in the right specialists or executive sponsors, and establish a transparent plan to address the gaps.
