About Claude Corps

Claude Corps is a fellowship that places early-career talent in nonprofits, government agencies, and public-interest organizations to build AI solutions those organizations can continue using after the fellowship ends. It is a partnership between Anthropic, CodePath, and Social Finance. Fellows are full-time employees for a one-year term.

Each cohort is larger than the last, and every candidate deserves a process that feels organized, responsive, and human. That’s where you come in.

You’ll lead the Claude Corps screener team day to day. You make sure applications are reviewed, screens are completed, and every candidate decision is documented on time.

The Director sets recruiting strategy and cohort hiring goals. You turn those goals into weekly targets, plan staffing, and manage the team’s work. This is a hands-on management role. You train and coach screeners, review their work, and keep selection standards consistent as volume grows. You work closely with the Director, the recruiting coordinator, and the Claude Corps program team.

Key Activities

Maintain clear selection standards

  • Train screeners on the program’s eligibility requirements, interview questions, and evaluation criteria
  • Make sure every decision has a completed scorecard with clear evidence
  • Review decisions regularly for consistency across screeners, and resolve unclear guidance
  • Use candidate and final-round results to sharpen screening guidance and questions

Build and lead the screener team

  • Hire and train screeners as cohort needs grow
  • Set clear expectations for output, decision quality, documentation, and candidate communication
  • Coach screeners with regular feedback and address performance issues directly
  • Run weekly team meetings and keep the screener guide and process instructions current

Run the operation

  • Keep Greenhouse reviews, stages, and scorecards complete and accurate
  • Give the Director weekly results, explain what’s driving changes, and recommend actions
  • Plan screening capacity ahead of application surges and share what results show about where more qualified applicants are needed
  • Use AI and automation to cut repetitive administrative work, and train screeners to check the quality of what it produces
  • Keep people responsible for evaluating candidates and making selection decisions

Key Success Metrics

  • Weekly delivery: Application reviews and screens meet agreed targets, and delays and staffing gaps are flagged early

  • You have managed a team’s workload, output, and quality using weekly targets and reporting
  • You have trained people to apply consistent selection standards and can explain how you checked their decisions
  • You have coached team members and addressed performance issues directly
  • You have personally reviewed applications and conducted structured candidate screens at volume
  • You can manage candidate stages, scorecards, and reports in an applicant tracking system (Greenhouse experience is preferred)
  • You use AI in your work and can describe a process you improved or automated
  • You can build clear processes while a program is still developing and adjust them as needed

Sample interview questions
How would you convert an annual cohort hiring goal into a weekly screening operating plan?

I would begin with the required number of hires, expected funnel conversion rates, application volume, and cohort deadlines. I would then set weekly targets for reviews, screens, and interview-ready candidates, assign capacity by screener availability, and review performance data weekly to adjust staffing or priorities before delays compound.

How do you ensure screeners apply selection criteria consistently at high volume?

I establish clear rubrics with behavioral evidence examples, train screeners through calibration exercises, and audit scorecards regularly. When patterns of inconsistency appear, I provide targeted coaching, clarify guidance, and use sample-case discussions to align judgment across the team.

Describe how you would use Greenhouse data to identify a recruiting bottleneck.

I would monitor stage aging, conversion rates, incomplete scorecards, reviewer turnaround times, and interviewer capacity. For example, if qualified candidates are accumulating at a screen stage, I would determine whether the constraint is screener capacity, scheduling, unclear criteria, or incomplete application reviews and recommend a specific corrective action.

How would you introduce AI or automation into screening operations while preserving fair human decisions?

I would automate repetitive administrative tasks such as status tracking, reminders, and draft summaries, while keeping people accountable for reviewing evidence and making final decisions. I would test outputs for accuracy and bias, document the process, train screeners on quality checks, and regularly audit whether automation improves rather than weakens candidate experience and decision quality.

How would you address a screener who meets volume targets but produces weak documentation or inconsistent decisions?

I would share specific examples, restate the quality standard, and create a focused improvement plan with observable expectations and review checkpoints. I would provide calibration support and coaching, then monitor both scorecard quality and decision alignment; if improvement does not occur, I would address the performance issue directly according to the established process.
