Core skills

Skills and capabilities most closely associated with this opportunity.

Sample interview questions
How have you grown a territory through security dealers or distribution partners?

I segment partners by revenue potential and technical capability, create joint account plans, and establish measurable activities such as trainings, prospect meetings, and specification opportunities. I review pipeline and partner performance regularly, then focus resources on the actions producing repeatable growth.

How would you explain a security solution to both a technical installer and a commercial buyer?

For the installer, I would focus on architecture, installation workflow, reliability, integrations, and support. For the buyer, I would translate those capabilities into business outcomes such as risk reduction, operational simplicity, customer confidence, and total cost of ownership.

What CRM metrics do you use to manage a territory?

I monitor qualified pipeline value, stage conversion, coverage against target, win rate, sales-cycle length, partner-sourced opportunities, and forecast accuracy. These metrics help identify where additional enablement, executive engagement, or prospecting is needed.

Describe how you influence a product specification before a purchasing decision is made.

I engage influencers early, uncover technical and commercial requirements, demonstrate how the solution meets them, and provide documentation, training, and design support. I then coordinate with the dealer or distributor so the specified solution is easy to quote, source, and implement.

How do you remain effective when traveling frequently across a large territory?

I use a territory plan that clusters visits geographically, prioritizes high-impact partner and customer meetings, and reserves time for follow-up and CRM updates. Clear pre-meeting objectives and disciplined post-meeting actions ensure travel converts into pipeline, partner capability, and closed revenue.
