Sample interview questions
How do you lead a technical discovery session with a strategic customer?

I begin by clarifying business outcomes, current architecture, security constraints, stakeholders, and success criteria. I then validate assumptions through targeted technical questions and summarize the findings into prioritized requirements, risks, and a recommended next-step plan.

Describe how you would create a recommended architecture and deployment roadmap for a customer.

I map the customer’s current environment and integrations, identify functional and security requirements, and design a phased target architecture. The roadmap includes dependencies, ownership, validation milestones, rollout sequencing, risk mitigations, and measurable adoption outcomes.

How do you balance customer-specific requirements with product capabilities?

I distinguish between configuration, integration, workflow, and true product-gap requests. I communicate trade-offs transparently, propose viable alternatives where possible, and partner with product management to document high-value, repeatable enhancement opportunities.

How do you support a sales team without compromising technical credibility?

I focus on accurate technical guidance and customer value rather than overstating capabilities. By clearly defining scope, validating feasibility early, and connecting product capabilities to measurable outcomes, I help sales progress opportunities while building long-term trust.

What is your approach to mentoring junior solutions engineers?

I use structured shadowing, joint account planning, technical debriefs, and actionable feedback after customer meetings. I progressively delegate ownership while remaining available for coaching, helping each engineer build both technical depth and consultative confidence.
