Sample interview questions
How would you design a highly available Kubernetes platform across multiple cloud providers?

I would standardize cluster provisioning and core policies through Terraform and GitOps, while allowing cloud-specific modules for networking and managed services. I would define availability targets, use multiple availability zones where available, establish tested backup and disaster-recovery procedures, and implement consistent observability and access controls across clusters.

What approach would you take to tuning Karpenter for a production workload?

I would begin with workload resource profiles, node constraints, availability requirements, and cost goals. I would configure node pools with appropriate instance families, disruption budgets, taints, labels, and consolidation policies, then monitor scheduling latency, utilization, interruption events, and cost to iteratively refine the configuration.

Describe how you would investigate a production incident involving elevated latency in a blockchain RPC service.

I would first assess user impact and stabilize the service through scaling, traffic controls, or failover where appropriate. I would correlate metrics, logs, traces, node health, upstream dependencies, cache behavior, and infrastructure saturation, then document the root cause, corrective actions, and preventive monitoring or capacity changes.

How do you keep Terraform infrastructure changes safe in a multi-team environment?

I use version-controlled modules, isolated state boundaries, pull-request review, automated validation, policy checks, and planned changes before apply. I also enforce least-privilege access, protect production deployments with approvals, and keep state storage encrypted, locked, and auditable.

How would you improve observability for Kafka, Redis, NGINX, and Kubernetes services?

I would define service-level indicators for availability, latency, errors, saturation, and consumer or replication lag. I would collect metrics with Prometheus, centralize structured logs, propagate OpenTelemetry traces across request paths, and create actionable alerts linked to runbooks so teams can detect and resolve issues quickly.
