Sample interview questions
How do you ensure that a clinical study remains on schedule, within budget, and compliant with quality requirements?

I establish an integrated project plan with clear milestones, ownership, budget assumptions, and quality controls. I review key performance indicators and critical-path risks regularly with the project team, then escalate and resolve deviations early with sponsors and functional leaders.

Describe how you manage a challenging sponsor relationship during a clinical program.

I maintain transparent, consistent communication and confirm expectations through documented decisions, governance meetings, and actionable status reporting. When issues arise, I focus discussions on impact, options, and a recommended path forward so that trust is preserved while decisions are made quickly.

What steps would you take if a third-party vendor were underperforming on a clinical project?

I would assess the performance gap against agreed deliverables, timelines, and quality metrics, then meet with the vendor to identify root causes and agree on a corrective action plan. I would track recovery milestones closely and prepare contingency options to protect the study and sponsor commitments.

How do you approach resource forecasting across several concurrent clinical studies?

I use current workload, enrollment projections, study complexity, upcoming milestones, and team capacity to create a rolling forecast. I review it routinely with functional leaders and adjust staffing or priorities early to prevent bottlenecks and avoid compromising quality.

How have you contributed to business development in a CRO environment?

I support proposals and bid defenses by translating operational expertise into realistic delivery strategies, resource plans, timelines, and risk mitigations. I also ensure proposed commitments are feasible and aligned with sponsor needs, regulatory obligations, and internal capabilities.
