Sample interview questions
I would first gather the available facts, clarify the concern and desired outcome, and review the relevant policies. I would create a documented investigation plan, interview appropriate parties impartially, preserve confidentiality, and consult HRBP or legal partners when the matter exceeds established guidance.
I would analyze case trends, employee feedback, and process data to identify the root cause rather than repeatedly addressing symptoms. After proposing a simple scalable solution, I would align stakeholders, implement the change, document the new process, and monitor metrics such as case volume, resolution time, and satisfaction.
I use clearly documented policies, consistent case notes, structured decision criteria, and regular manager guidance. When exceptions are needed, I document the business rationale, check for equity and compliance risks, and involve the appropriate HR or legal partners before finalizing the decision.
I would review turnover and regrettable attrition, engagement results, employee-relations case themes, time-to-resolution, performance-cycle completion, leave trends, and HRIS data accuracy. I would segment findings by team, location, tenure, and manager where appropriate, then translate the results into practical recommendations.
I would triage work by employee impact, legal or business risk, urgency, and deadlines, while communicating clear expectations on response times. I would reserve focused time for project work, maintain detailed case tracking, and flex into APAC hours as needed for high-priority stakeholder support.
