Opportunity details

About this role.

The Role:

We are seeking an ambitious, self-directed Sales Manager to accelerate revenue growth across EMEA and APAC and advance the digitization of the global weather and climate ecosystem. Operating with the autonomy of a regional owner, you will expand Spire’s market presence across key industry segments, leverage our partner ecosystem to drive adoption of our forecast data, APIs, and decision-support solutions, and consistently exceed sales targets.

This is a high-impact, quota-carrying role for a seller who is energized by how data and software are reshaping traditional industries and who wants to sell a product that is, quite literally, powered by space.

What You Will Do:

  • Own a territory: Build and execute a territory plan spanning EMEA and APAC, identifying and developing new business opportunities while growing and retaining existing client accounts.
  • Exceed targets: Meet and surpass assigned quotas through disciplined prospecting, qualification, and full-cycle deal execution.
  • Build lasting relationships: Develop strong, long-term relationships with key clients, partners, and stakeholders across the weather, climate, and earth intelligence ecosystem — understanding their needs, challenges, and objectives to tailor solutions accordingly.
  • Sell consultatively: Use a solution-selling approach to uncover clients’ operational pain points and propose tailored offerings built on Spire’s weather forecasts, historical data, and climate analytics.
  • Master the product: Develop deep expertise in Spire’s data products and platforms — their features, differentiation, and applications — to communicate compelling value to technical and executive audiences alike.
  • Deliver winning proposals: Prepare and present persuasive sales presentations, proposals, and responses to tenders that clearly articulate Spire’s value proposition.
  • Negotiate and close: Lead commercial negotiations on terms and pricing to reach mutually beneficial agreements and close deals reliably.
  • Manage your pipeline: Maintain an accurate, up-to-date pipeline in our CRM, ensuring rigorous forecasting and timely follow-up on every lead and opportunity.
  • Know the market: Track industry trends, competitive movements, and emerging opportunities across your regions to inform strategy and identify new areas for growth.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally: Partner with marketing, product, meteorology, and customer success teams to ensure client satisfaction and feed market insight back into product development.

Basic Skills/Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in sales, business development, or account management, with a focus on selling data products, SaaS, or API-based solutions.
  • A demonstrated track record of consistently meeting or exceeding sales targets and quotas.
  • Strong understanding of the weather and climate industry, or deep experience selling digital transformation into data-driven sectors such as energy, maritime, aviation, agriculture, or logistics.
  • A consultative, value-based selling style with excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain trusted client relationships across cultures, time zones, and seniority levels.
  • Proficiency with modern sales tools (e.g., Salesforce or similar CRM, LinkedIn Sales Navigator, ZoomInfo, Lusha).
  • Self-motivated, results-oriented, and effective working independently in a remote, globally distributed team.
  • Fluent in English; willingness to travel across the territory as needed.
  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience, preferably in a high-tech field.

Preferred Skills/Qualifications:

  • Additional language skills relevant to the EMEA or APAC regions.
  • An existing network within meteorology, earth observation, or climate-tech communities.
  • Experience selling to or partnering with government agencies, national met services, or large enterprises in regulated industries.

Why Spire:

  • Mission with impact: help organizations worldwide adapt to a changing climate using data collected from space.
  • Real ownership: a large, high-potential territory with the autonomy to build it your way.
  • Competitive compensation: base salary plus uncapped commission, and equity participation.
  • Flexible, remote-first working within a collaborative, international team spanning four continents.
  • Generous time off, local statutory benefits, and support for professional development. (Specific benefits vary by country of employment.)

Access to US export-controlled software and/or technology may be required for this role. If needed, Spire will arrange the necessary licenses—this is not something candidates need to have before applying. #LI-RK1

Sample interview questions
How would you build a territory plan for Spire’s weather and climate solutions across EMEA and APAC?

I would segment the territory by industries with urgent weather-risk use cases, such as energy, aviation, maritime, agriculture, and logistics. I would prioritize accounts by pain severity, data maturity, buying potential, and partner access, then define account plans, pipeline targets, and weekly activity metrics for each segment.

Describe how you sell a technical data or API product to both executive and technical stakeholders.

I start by identifying the operational or commercial problem and quantifying the cost of inaction. For executives, I frame the business outcome, risk reduction, and ROI; for technical teams, I validate data quality, integration requirements, coverage, latency, and proof-of-value criteria. I then align both groups around a clear mutual action plan.

Tell us about a time you exceeded a difficult sales quota.

In a prior role, I improved performance by narrowing focus to high-propensity accounts, establishing multithreaded relationships, and introducing rigorous deal reviews. This improved qualification quality and forecast accuracy, allowing me to convert several strategic opportunities and exceed the annual target.

How do you maintain forecast accuracy in a long and complex enterprise sales cycle?

I use defined stage-exit criteria, validate compelling events and decision processes, and document stakeholder roles and risks in the CRM. I review close dates critically, separate upside from commit deals, and update next steps immediately after customer interactions.

How would you respond if a prospect questioned the value of purchasing weather and climate data instead of relying on public sources?

I would first understand the specific decisions they need to improve, such as routing, asset protection, forecasting, or regulatory reporting. I would then demonstrate where differentiated coverage, historical depth, analytics, reliability, integration support, or operational timeliness can create measurable value beyond generic public data, ideally through a focused proof of value.
