About the Role

We are seeking a full-time Team Leader to join our fast-growing team. In this hands-on role, lead a team of phlebotomists across different regions day to day, supporting the Field Supervisor and Operations Manager in your market.

You will use Leader Standard Work (LSW) a simple, repeatable routine of daily check-ins, quick huddles, and follow-ups to keep the team on track, catch problems early, and make sure every patient has a great experience.

This is a great fit for an experienced front-line healthcare worker, who is ready to grow into leadership. We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, coachable, and eager to help others succeed.

At Getlabs, you will:

  • Lead, coach, and support a team of mobile phlebotomists, serving as their first point of contact for questions and support.
  • Follow a daily Leader Standard Work routine: start-of-day check-ins, review of the day’s schedule and routes, and end-of-day follow-ups.

  • Run short team meetings to share priorities, updates, wins, and safety or quality reminders.

  • Track key daily metrics (e.g., on-time arrivals, completed visits, specimen quality) on visual boards or dashboards, and flag issues to the Field Supervisor.

  • Use simple problem-solving tools (e.g., 5 Whys) to find root causes and follow through on action items.

  • Perform regular field check-ins and quality spot-checks to confirm standard work and compliance with safety protocols.

  • Assist with hiring, onboarding, training, and shadowing new hires, including up to 25% regional travel to support market expansion and training initiatives.

  • Help with scheduling adjustments, coverage gaps, and timecard or expense reviews as needed.

  • Handle first-level patient and team concerns with empathy, escalating complex issues to leadership.

  • Share feedback and improvement ideas from the field to help the team work smarter.

What we are looking for:

  • 2+ years of phlebotomy experience; mobile or in-home phlebotomy a plus.

  • Active phlebotomy certification (and state license where required).

  • 1+ year of lead, trainer, preceptor, or informal leadership experience preferred.

  • Strong customer service skills and a calm, professional approach with patients.

  • Clear written and verbal communication skills.

  • Comfortable using Google Workspace, mobile apps, and new technology platforms.

  • Organized and dependable, with the ability to manage your own schedule while supporting others.

  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, clean driving record, and willingness to travel up to 25% for training and onboarding

What Success Looks Like

  • Daily: You start the day with a quick team check-in, keep an eye on schedules and metrics, and close out open items before the end of day.

  • Weekly: You lead team meetings, complete field check-ins, and keep direct managers informed

  • Ongoing: Your team knows the standard, feels supported, and patients consistently get on-time, high-quality visits.

We have great benefits to make your life easier so you can focus on what you’re best at:

  • Competitive annual salary ranging $55,000-$64,000
  • Medical, dental and vision insurance options
  • Flexible paid time off
  • A company with a huge vision, a dynamic work environment, and a team of talented, ambitious and fun to work-with colleagues!

Sample interview questions
How do you maintain specimen quality while leading a distributed mobile phlebotomy team?

I establish clear collection and handling standards, review quality metrics consistently, and use field observations to identify deviations early. I coach team members promptly, document corrective actions, and escalate recurring compliance risks to the appropriate supervisor.

Describe how you would respond to a same-day coverage gap that could affect patient appointments.

I would first assess the urgency, patient impact, route constraints, and available qualified coverage. I would contact appropriate team members, adjust schedules where feasible, communicate proactively with affected stakeholders, and document the resolution so similar gaps can be prevented.

How would you use the 5 Whys to address repeated late arrivals?

I would review the data and ask successive why-based questions to identify the underlying cause, such as route planning, scheduling assumptions, equipment readiness, or communication gaps. Then I would implement a targeted action, assign ownership, and monitor whether on-time performance improves.

How do you give constructive feedback to an experienced phlebotomist who is not following standard work?

I would address the issue privately and promptly, describe the observed behavior and its patient or quality impact, and listen to their perspective. I would restate the required standard, agree on a practical improvement plan, offer support or retraining, and follow up on progress.

What do you do when a patient concern exceeds your authority to resolve?

I would listen empathetically, clarify the concern, and provide only accurate information within my scope. I would escalate the matter to the appropriate leader or department with clear documentation, while keeping the patient informed about the next steps whenever possible.
