Sample interview questions
How do you perform a non-linguistic QC check on a translated life-sciences document?

I begin by comparing the target file against the source and project instructions, then check numbers, dates, units, tags, formatting, layout, headers, footers, and terminology consistency. I run automated QA checks first and manually investigate every relevant warning before documenting and resolving issues.

What would you do if Xbench or a CAT-integrated QA tool flags a numeric mismatch?

I would verify the source and target context rather than accepting the warning at face value. If the mismatch is an error, I would correct or report it according to the workflow; if it is justified, such as a locale-specific date format, I would confirm it complies with the client instructions.

How do you handle urgent projects with a 12-to-24-hour turnaround?

I prioritize files by deadline and risk, run systematic checks using QA tools, and reserve time for a final visual review. I communicate early if there is an issue with source quality, instructions, or capacity so that delivery risks can be managed promptly.

How would you review a document converted from a handwritten or non-editable source?

I would carefully validate that all source content was captured during conversion and pay particular attention to numbers, symbols, tables, formatting, and illegible sections. Any ambiguity or missing content would be clearly flagged through the agreed query process rather than assumed.

Why is non-linguistic QC especially important in pharmacovigilance and regulatory content?

These materials may contain safety data, dosage information, patient details, and regulatory terminology, so formatting or numeric errors can affect usability, compliance, and safety. A rigorous final QC step helps ensure the delivered document is accurate, complete, and aligned with client and regulated-industry requirements.
