Accounts Receivable Accountant

You are a self-motivated person with an accounting or finance degree who is interested in contributing to the policies, procedures and processes related to the Accounts Receivable cycle for Apptio, Inc. You’re passionate about asking questions, quickly ramping up, and remaining agile as you receive feedback from business owners.  You’re scrappy and willing to think outside the box. You’ll go above and beyond to get results (and you’re able to motivate others to do the same!) You’re not afraid to jump into confusing messy situations. You love being the go-to person for getting things done. You will report to the Senior Revenue and Accounts Receivables Manager and collaborate with other groups throughout the organization.

Responsibilities

This role will partner with our existing AR Accountant for overall responsibility of accounts receivable functions for Apptio. This includes responsibility for reconciling A/R related accounts and/or providing supporting schedules for internal and external requests.

• Issue and send out customer invoices according to customer specifications
• Apply customer payments to appropriate customer and general ledger accounts.
• Verify details of transactions, such as funds received and total account balances
• Prepare aging schedules with forecasted collections including payment history, direct customer communications and actual cash collected
• Compile and sort documents, prepare and post invoices and credit and debit memos
• Serve as the primary point of contact between Apptio our clients
• Prepare monthly reconciliations to support related GL balances
• Reach out to our customers to resolve any payment related issues
• Ensure compliance with US GAAP
• Assist other accounting team members to accomplish department goals and objectives
• Provide support for ad hoc projects

You are ready to work on other accounting related tasks that may fall outside of A/R process and you are interested in developing a deeper understanding of accounting, processes and controls.

Qualifications

 Basic Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
• 0-3 years of work experience; Accounts Receivable experience a plus

Preferred Qualifications:

• Excellent written and oral communications skills
• Strong knowledge of US GAAP
• Advanced Excel skills required, along with strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications
• Strong analytical skills combined with good business judgment; outstanding interpersonal and communication skills
• Problem solving skills with keen eye on process improvements
• Ability to multi task and complete critical tasks on time
• ERP System experience; Netsuite experience a plus

Compensation and Benefits

The compensation range being offered for this role is an annual salary of $60,800 – $79,500.

This role may be eligible for potential merit increases based on factors such as individual or company performance, time in role and other discretionary factors.​
