Is a same-day interview decision a warning sign?

Interviews Asked Active 2 Aug 2026
Question details

After a final interview for a coordinator role, the hiring manager asked me to accept verbally before receiving a written offer and said they needed an answer that day. Is this normal urgency, or a sign I should ask more questions before proceeding?

A quick decision sounds flattering; written terms are more useful. Example: ask why today, then request the offer and 24 hours to review.

    • If they wonโ€™t give you reasonable time to review the written terms, Iโ€™d treat the urgency as a concern. Same-day enthusiasm can be normal, but ask for the offer, start date, duties, pay, and reporting expectations in writing before agreeing. The main exception is a genuinely time-sensitive, clearly documented role.
