What does a remote work location review mean?

Remote Work Asked Active 6 Aug 2026
Question details

After a recruiter screen for a fully remote role, the recruiter said the team wants to complete a “work location review” before scheduling the hiring manager interview. I already told them my country and time zone, and the job posting said it could be filled remotely within several regions. They have not asked about relocation, work authorization, or travel, so I am unsure whether this is a routine compliance step or a sign my location may not be approved.

Should I ask what criteria the review covers before the next interview?

Is it reasonable to confirm whether my location affects compensation or employment type?

If they cannot confirm eligibility yet, should I continue interviewing?
