Summary of Role

The Application Engineer – Mechanical will be part of the rapidly developing Foundation Solutions business unit, working with the global Nextracker team and closely with the US based Fleet Management and Technical team. This role is envisioned to become the subject matter expert for the operation of our machines in the field being able to complete advanced fault finding across diesel, hydraulic and electronic control systems and find solutions in challenging environments under time pressure.

Operational responsibilities will be broad and will develop with the business, a background as a Heavy Machine Mechanical Fitter, Fleet Manager and team leader will be highly regarded.

The role will require excellent written language skills to meet our knowledge sharing objectives within the Australian market and our desire to develop a training excellence program.

AccountabilitiesΒ 

Environment, Health and Safety

  • Be a visible Safety Leader; be proactive in continual improvement in the welfare of people interacting with the business.
  • Proactively challenge the operations team around safety and facilitate discussions around safety improvements.Β 
  • Ensure that all safety events are thoroughly investigated, and root causes are identified with suitable corrective actions.

Business Systems

  • Work to facilitate the flow of data between machine telematics and the fleet operations system, MaintainX
  • Assist with order processing and inventory management system to manage spare parts and operational consumables as a mechanical specialist
  • Manage fleet information within MaintainX, generate Work Orders, review preventative and scheduled maintenance reports.

Operations

  • Assist in coordination of logistics for equipment
  • Fault find mechanical, hydraulic and electronic control systems in the field
  • Assume responsibility for machine mechanical performance in the field, be the subject matter expert on the machines and their operation.
  • Attend field trials, complete daily maintenance on machinery, calibrate and verify machine performance
  • Attend testing sites, address mechanical failures
  • Review machine performance logs, work with R and D as new versions are released.
  • Manage mechanical service partner and administer all WO’s and Parts requests

Knowledge Sharing

  • Maintain content on knowledge sharing portal
  • Communicate with US based team to share new learnings

Training Delivery

  • Localize training content to the Australian market
  • Train new operators on machine operation and systems

Continuous improvementΒ 

  • Identify and realize opportunities within the business for continuous improvement through implementations of technology, process and people.Β 

Care of Nextracker propertyΒ 

  • All assets are accounted for, maintained and in good working order at all times.Β 
  • Minimize risk of property damage, loss and mistreatment of assets under your teams care.

Other dutiesΒ 

  • Positively contribute to Nextracker through participation, sharing ideas and previous experiences.Β 
  • Perform any other duties as required.Β 

Experience, Qualities and Qualifications – Essential

EssentialΒ 

  • Leadership skills with the ability to communicate at multiple levelsΒ 
  • Proven ability to develop and manage relationships
  • Demonstrated experience with heavy diesel machinery and associated electronic control systems
  • Advanced fault finding ability in machine mechanical systems

Preferred

PreferredΒ 

  • Affinity for machine control systems and digital systems.
  • Experience within the materials supply and construction industryΒ 
  • Experience within a business excellence environment
