About UNICEF

For every child.

Verified job posting
This job post has been manually reviewed for authenticity and compliance.

UNICEF works in some of the worldโ€™s toughest places, to reach the worldโ€™s most disadvantaged children. To save their lives. To defend their rights. To help them fulfill their potential.ย

Across 190 countries and territories, we work for every child, everywhere, every day, to build a better world for everyone.ย

And we never give up.ย

For every child, hope

UNICEF is committed to ensuring that all children have access to quality services and information. As part of this commitment, UNICEF LCO produces a wide range of materials in multiple languages (English and Arabic) in collaboration with line ministries. The documents vary between training packages, policies, studies, reports and references. These documents are technically reviewed by program colleagues and experts from the concerned area of work, but the role of Arabic Editors is crucial in maintaining the quality and accuracy of these materials.ย

UNICEF is seeking to establish a roster for Arabic writers and editors to provide documents in Arabic that are concise and easy for the readers, and that consist of solid Arabic language.ย

The purpose of this is to outline the responsibilities, qualifications, and expectations for Arabic Editors working with UNICEF. Arabic Editors will be responsible for the following tasks:ย

  • Writing documents: Draft documents based on content that is readily available or based on presentation.
  • Editing and Proofreading: Review and edit UNICEF documents, reports, publications, and other materials in Arabic to ensure accuracy, clarity, and consistency.
  • Translation Quality Assurance: Verify the quality of translations from English (or other languages) to Arabic, ensuring that the translated content accurately reflects the original text.
  • Content Adaptation: Adapt content to ensure cultural relevance and appropriateness for Arabic-speaking audiences and in Lebanon.
  • Terminology Management: Maintain and update a glossary of terms to ensure consistency in the use of terminology across all Arabic materials.
