Professional Consulting Veterinarian (PCV)

The PCV is part of the Professional Veterinary Affairs Team, reporting to Professional Veterinary Affairs Senior Manager and working closely with the district Customer Development Team. 

PCV is the technical and scientific liaison for the local CD Team supporting the Sales Managers through consulting and training Profession and Top Customers.
PCV, based on business plans developed by Mktg & PVA and in coordination with CD team, is responsible to develop and implement a training plan on an annual, quarterly and monthly basis which will include In clinic seminars, speaker tour, school visits and other necessary activities.
The plan must be shared with the PVA team and with the CD team and updated periodically as needed.

Key Job Responsibilities:

  • Influence customer success through nutritional education, coaching and skill-building training with in practice healthcare teams primarily focusing on large practices like Referral Hospitals and Corporate Clinics. The training will take place through the organization of visits, round tables, seminars as well as the promotion of Hill’s events.
  • Collaborate with CD Team in developing and growing key opportunity customers through development of specific action plans and implementation of core strategies including 5VA elements, nutritional seminars and compliance audits.
  • Organization and participation in local events (speaker tour) in coordination with the Marketing & PVA team.
  • Updating and training of Veterinary and Nursing Schools in the district (lectures, seminars, etc.).
  • Staff Hill’s exhibit booth at national/regional/specialty conferences building relationships, providing vet insights and influencing conference attendees to recommend and sell Hill’s products.
  • Answer veterinary/technical queries from the helpline.
  • Enhance Field Sales and distributors technical, product and communication competencies delivering expertise through TM training and field scientific coaching.
  • Participation in meetings of regional veterinary associations if needed
  • Participation in company and function meetings

Key Requirements:

  • Excellent communication skills (written, verbal and presentation)
  • Digital expertise and curiosity inc. good knowledge of social media
  • Proficient in Google suite
  • Must be able to work independently, manage a demanding schedule with irregular hours and manage travel within district to deliver internal and external customer visits/training; some overnight travel required
  • Ability to make sound decisions under conditions of uncertainty or complexity
  • Willingness to travel in the assigned territory with overnight stay away from home
  • Ability in storytelling and KTLs management and influence
  • Team player and ability to work in a cross-functional team

Education & Background

  • Degree in Veterinary Medicine or Nutrition
  • At least 3 years of experience in a veterinary practice (or a commercial or marketing job)
  • Knowledge of the pet food business , animal nutrition, Hill’s products and current regulation on labeling and nutrition.
  • Valid driver’s license
  • Fluent in Italian and in English language
  • Basic understanding of business terminology, good analytical skills
  • Strong work ethic, professional appearance and approach, high integrity
  • Excellent communication (written, verbal and presentation) and relationship building skills
  • Self-motivated
