Data Analytics Mobile Games Leadership Stakeholder Management ROAS Optimization Experimentation Dashboarding Data Infrastructure Project Management Analytics Strategy

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my interest in the Senior Manager, Analytics Strategy & Operations position at Fortis Games. With over 7 years of experience in data analytics, including 3+ years in mobile games, I have a proven track record of leading analytics functions that drive business growth. I am particularly drawn to Fortis Games' mission of creating games that bring people together and fostering a culture of belonging.

In my previous role, I led a multi-disciplinary analytics team and partnered with cross-functional leaders to translate ambiguous business problems into actionable insights. I have extensive experience building scalable analytics frameworks, optimizing ROAS, and championing experimentation. My strong stakeholder management skills and ability to navigate complexity align perfectly with the requirements of this role.

I am excited about the opportunity to contribute to Fortis Games' success and would welcome the chance to discuss how my expertise can support your analytics strategy. Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Can you describe a time when you translated an ambiguous business problem into a clear analytical framework that led to actionable insights?
In my previous role, our game's revenue was declining, and the team was unsure of the cause. I structured the problem into hypotheses around user acquisition, retention, and monetization. I designed a cohort analysis and attribution model that pinpointed a drop in ad campaign efficiency. This led to reallocating budget to higher-performing channels and implementing A/B testing for creative optimization, resulting in a 15% revenue recovery.
How do you prioritize analytics projects when resources are limited and multiple stakeholders have competing demands?
I use a framework that evaluates projects based on business impact, urgency, and alignment with strategic goals. I hold regular prioritization meetings with stakeholders to ensure transparency and buy-in. For example, I once balanced requests from product and publishing teams by scoring each project and creating a roadmap that addressed high-impact, time-sensitive needs first, while scheduling lower-priority items for later sprints.
Describe your experience with mobile game analytics, particularly in optimizing ROAS and user acquisition. What metrics do you focus on?
I have extensive experience with mobile game analytics, including LTV prediction, cohort analysis, and attribution modeling. Key metrics I focus on are ROAS, CPI, retention rates, and conversion funnels. In a previous role, I built a predictive LTV model that improved UA targeting, reducing CPI by 20% while increasing D7 retention by 10%. I also implemented a unified dashboard for real-time ROAS tracking across multiple ad networks.
How do you ensure data quality and governance across multiple data sources like MMPs, ad platforms, and app stores?
I establish robust data pipelines with validation checks and documentation. I work closely with data engineering to define tracking plans and ensure consistency. For example, I led an initiative to standardize event naming across platforms and implement automated data quality alerts. Regular audits and cross-referencing with source systems help maintain accuracy, and I promote a culture of data ownership among teams.
Tell me about a time you led a team through a significant change or scaling effort. How did you manage the transition?
When our analytics team grew from 5 to 15 members, I restructured into squads aligned with product and publishing. I introduced agile methodologies, established clear roles and career paths, and implemented knowledge-sharing sessions. I communicated the vision regularly and solicited feedback to address concerns. This improved team efficiency by 30% and increased stakeholder satisfaction due to faster delivery of insights.

If you’re passionate about tackling difficult problems with direct and thoughtful communication and team first mentality, we may be the right place for you.

About the role

We are seeking a seasoned and strategic Senior Manager to lead our Gaming, Platform, and Publishing Analytics function. This role will partner with Staff-level ICs to evolve the vision for the team. They will own the roadmap and execution of analytics efforts across Game Studios, Platform teams, and Publishing serving as the key driver of data-informed decision-making and operational excellence.

As the Senior Manager, you will be accountable for leading a high-impact multi-disciplinary team of product analysts, business analysts, and analytics engineers. You will drive the strategic alignment and delivery of all analytics initiatives, enabling smarter decision-making, and ensuring analytics efforts align with the broader business objectives. You’ll partner closely with leaders across Game Studios, Product, Publishing, and Engineering to ensure our revenue and ROAS optimizing strategies are grounded in rigorous analytics and meaningful insights.

What you’ll achieve

  • Drive the roadmap and execution for Game Studio, Platform, and Publishing Analytics, ensuring alignment with company goals and evolving business needs.
  • Act as a thought partner and strategic advisor to cross-functional leadership—translating ambiguous business problems into analysis opportunities for your team. And then ensuring those analyses have clear, actionable recommendations that influence game teams and publishing roadmaps.
  • Serve as the primary stakeholder interface, managing expectations and ensuring seamless delivery of high-impact analytical projects.
  • Partner with Data Science and Data Engineering leaders to define and implement scalable analytics frameworks and technical foundations to support holistic measurement, ROAS optimization, and data-driven decision-making at all levels.
  • Oversee the design and delivery of key gaming and publishing dashboards and reports, providing senior stakeholders with timely insights to guide strategy and investment decisions.
  • Collaborate with the larger Data org to ensure robust data infrastructure and governance, including tracking plans, pipelines, and source integration (e.g., MMPs, ad platforms, app stores).
  • Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, continuously identifying opportunities to improve analytical methodologies, tools, and frameworks.
  • Champion best practices in experimentation, measurement, and performance analytics—ensuring a culture of continuous testing and learning.

What you’ll need to be successful

  • 7+ years of experience in data analytics, including 3+ years focused on mobile games. Proven track record of using data analysis to influence game feature development
  • Exceptional communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate across all levels of the organization.
  • Strong project management, prioritization, and operational excellence skills; comfortable navigating ambiguity, managing complex dependencies, and overseeing multiple workstreams.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling analytics functions that directly impact business growth and performance.
  • Familiar with data modeling, SQL, and BI tools (e.g., Looker), with the ability to guide technical teams, but without needing daily hands-on expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to design and lead A/B tests and interpret results to optimize performance.
  • Experience managing and supporting analysts and building a high-performance, data-driven team culture.
  • Passion for gaming and a deep understanding of how analytics can drive player acquisition, engagement, and retention.
