Key Skills

Accounting Tax Compliance Payroll Processing Financial Reporting BIR Filing Statutory Compliance Reconciliation Bookkeeping

Dear Hiring Manager,

I am writing to express my strong interest in the Part-Time Accountant position at Spectrum One. With extensive experience in Philippine taxation, payroll processing, and government compliance, I am confident in my ability to handle the statutory requirements and financial reporting for your company. My background includes managing SSS, PhilHealth, and Pag-IBIG contributions, as well as preparing BIR forms and annual tax annualization.

I am particularly drawn to Spectrum One's high-trust, autonomous work environment. I thrive in roles where I can take ownership of recurring deadlines and ensure compliance without micro-management. I have a proven track record of maintaining accurate records and resolving discrepancies with government agencies efficiently.

I am eager to bring my expertise to your team and support the financial operations of a growing company. Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how I can contribute to Spectrum One's success.

Sincerely,
[Your Name]

Can you walk us through your experience with Philippine tax compliance, specifically BIR form preparation and filing?
I have over 5 years of experience preparing and filing BIR forms including 1701, 1702, 1601, and 2307. I ensure timely submission and compliance with all regulatory changes. I also handle alphalists and annual tax annualization for employees.
How do you manage multiple deadlines, such as monthly remittances, quarterly returns, and annual reports?
I maintain a detailed compliance calendar with reminders for each deadline. I prioritize tasks based on urgency and regulatory impact. I also use accounting software to automate routine entries, allowing me to focus on reconciliation and filing.
Describe a time you resolved a discrepancy with a government agency like SSS or BIR. What steps did you take?
I once found a contribution discrepancy with SSS due to a name mismatch. I contacted the agency, provided supporting documents, and coordinated with HR to correct the employee record. The issue was resolved within two weeks, and I implemented a verification process to prevent recurrence.
How would you handle payroll processing for a remote team with employees in multiple locations?
I would use a centralized payroll system capable of handling different tax rates and statutory deductions. I would verify timekeeping records from the People Operations team, compute gross pay, apply deductions (SSS, PhilHealth, Pag-IBIG, taxes), and generate payslips. I would also ensure compliance with local regulations for each employee's jurisdiction.
In this role, you will work independently with minimal supervision. How do you stay organized and ensure accuracy in your work?
I create checklists for each reporting period and perform regular reconciliations to catch errors early. I also use cloud-based accounting tools for real-time tracking and maintain detailed documentation. I set aside time each week for review and planning to ensure all tasks are on track.
