Key Skills

Video Production Social Media Content iPhone Videography Adobe Premiere Pro TikTok Instagram Trend Spotting Creative Concepting Remote Collaboration Fast-paced Production

I am excited to apply for the Social Content Videographer position at Canva. With a strong background in social-first video production and a keen eye for trends, I thrive in fast-paced environments where creativity meets speed. My experience includes shooting and editing content on iPhone for platforms like TikTok and Instagram, as well as concepting original ideas that drive engagement.

I have worked in both agency and corporate settings, handling reactive same-day production and collaborating closely with social teams to build brand presence. I am fluent in Adobe Premiere Pro and comfortable with CapCut and DaVinci Resolve. I am drawn to Canva's mission of empowering creativity and would love to contribute to its social media growth.

Thank you for considering my application. I look forward to the opportunity to discuss how my skills align with Canva's goals.

Can you describe a time you created a reactive piece of content based on a trending topic, and how you ensured it was produced quickly?
Example: I noticed a viral meme format on TikTok and quickly adapted it to our brand's voice, shooting and editing within 4 hours. I used iPhone footage and CapCut for fast cuts, and posted it same-day, resulting in a 200% increase in engagement.
How do you balance producing lo-fi reactive content with more polished cinematic edits?
I assess the context: for breaking news or trends, lo-fi feels authentic and fast; for brand campaigns, I plan for higher production value. I prioritize speed without sacrificing quality by using templates and efficient workflows.
Tell us about a time you proactively brought a content idea to your team and how you developed it from concept to posting.
Example: I pitched a series of short tutorials highlighting product features, including storyboarding and raw footage. I collaborated with the social lead to refine the concept, edited in Premiere, and the series became a recurring segment with 500k+ views per episode.
How do you stay current with social media trends, and how do you decide which ones to act on for a brand?
I spend daily time on TikTok, Instagram, and Reddit, and use trend reporting tools. I evaluate relevance to our brand voice, potential for audience resonance, and feasibility. For example, if a sound fits our brand personality, I create a quick draft to test engagement.
Describe your experience working remotely as part of a creative team. How do you ensure effective collaboration across time zones?
I use tools like Slack and Notion for asynchronous updates and schedule regular syncs during overlapping hours. I share early drafts for feedback and maintain a clear file organization. Proactive communication is key, including daily standups and shared calendars.

Company Description

Join the team redefining how the world experiences design.

Hello, g’day, mabuhay, kia ora, 你好, hallo, vítejte!

Thanks for stopping by. We know job descriptions can feel a bit formulaic sometimes, but we promise Canva is anything but. If you’re drawn to what we’re building and you see yourself in this role, we’d love to hear from you.

Job Description

Where and how you can work

This role is a 12 month Fixed Term Contract – working full-time hours per week.

Our flagship office is in Sydney, Australia, but we’ve made our way from down under, to a hub San Francisco, which is now home to our US operations. This is a fully remote role based in the US – Los Angeles is strongly preferred so you can overlap with our Sydney-based team during key creative touch points. You’ll be set up to produce content independently from home, and Canva provides all the gear you need to do your best work.

We offer flexibility in how and where you work, we trust our Canvanauts to choose the balance that empowers them and their team to achieve their goals.

What you’d be doing in this role

As Canva scales change continues to be part of our DNA. But we like to think that’s all part of the fun. So this will give you the flavour of the type of things you’ll be working on when you start, but this will likely evolve.

This isn’t a traditional videographer role. Think less “receives a brief, shoots, delivers back” and more creative collaborator who also happens to be great with a camera (or a phone). You’ll be embedded in Canva’s organic social team – the people behind @Canva on Instagram, TikTok, Facebook, and LinkedIn – helping to build Canva’s presence in the US at the speed of culture.

At the moment, this role is focused on:

  • Shooting and editing social-first content, primarily on iPhone – fast, reactive, and built for TikTok and Instagram

  • Concepting original ideas and bringing them to the table, not just executing briefs

  • Monitoring US trends, pop culture, and breaking moments in real time, and turning them into content same-day when needed

  • Collaborating closely with the Social Lead to develop entertainment-led series and culturally resonant brand acts that build audience engagement at scale

  • Delivering a mix of lo-fi reactive content and more polished, cinematic edits – knowing when each is right

  • Jumping into light graphic or meme formats if that’s in your wheelhouse

You’re probably a match if:

  • You’re a social-first creator, equally comfortable shooting on an iPhone as you are behind a camera, and you know which one to reach for

  • You live on TikTok and Instagram – you understand hooks, trends, and what makes people stop scrolling, and you bring that instinct to every brief

  • You concept, not just execute, you bring ideas to the table proactively and can take one from spark to post independently

  • You’ve worked at speed: Reactive, same-day production is something you’re used to, not something that stresses you out

  • You’re fluent in Adobe Premiere Pro; CapCut or DaVinci Resolve works too

  • You have some experience in a corporate or agency environment and handle structure and process well

About the team

Canva’s Social team is obsessed with one thing: making content people actually want to watch, share, and talk about. We’re in an entertainment-led era – backing bold ideas, moving fast, and never being precious about how things have always been done. Our goal is to become the #1 brand on social, and we’re building the creative engine to get there.
