Cover letter sample
Dear Hiring Team,
I am excited to apply for the Senior Technical Project Manager position at Nebius. With over 6 years of experience driving complex cross-team initiatives in cloud infrastructure, I bring a strong technical foundation in networking, including VPC, SDN, and distributed systems. I have successfully led programs that improved scalability and launched new services, aligning perfectly with the VPC team's objectives.
My ability to communicate technical trade-offs and facilitate decisions among engineering teams has been key to delivering on time and within scope. I thrive in fast-paced environments where ownership and collaboration are valued. I look forward to contributing to Nebius's AI cloud platform.
Thank you for your consideration.
Sample interview questions
Example answer: I led a project to deploy a new VPC architecture across multiple regions. I mapped dependencies between networking, compute, and storage teams, held weekly syncs, and used a risk register to track issues. When a key hardware dependency slipped, I facilitated a trade-off discussion to prioritize a phased rollout, which minimized impact.
Example answer: I start by analyzing incident metrics and conducting blameless post-mortems. For a previous project, I introduced chaos engineering experiments on network components and automated failure detection, which reduced mean time to recovery by 30%. I also established SLOs and error budgets for VPC services.
Example answer: I would first gather requirements from the hardware and AI teams to understand GPU networking needs (e.g., higher bandwidth, low latency). Then, I'd work with VPC engineers to plan routing changes, security group updates, and load balancing adjustments. I'd create a phased rollout with validation checkpoints to ensure performance and isolation.
Example answer: I use clear analogies and focus on business impact. For instance, when explaining VPC scaling trade-offs, I compare it to highway lanes: adding lanes reduces congestion but costs more. I provide concise one-pagers summarizing options, risks, and recommended choices, and I welcome questions to ensure alignment.
Example answer: In a previous role, a security requirement emerged mid-project, requiring network segmentation changes. I re-prioritized the backlog, communicated the rationale to the team, and adjusted milestones. I maintained focus by breaking down the new tasks into small increments and celebrating early wins. The team delivered on the revised schedule.
About Nebius:
Nebius is leading a new era in cloud infrastructure for the global AI economy. We are building a full-stack AI cloud platform that supports developers and enterprises from data and model training through to production deployment, without the cost and complexity of building large in-house AI/ML infrastructure.
Built by engineers, for engineers. From large-scale GPU orchestration to inference optimization, we own the hard problems across compute, storage, networking and applied AI.
Listed on Nasdaq (NBIS) and headquartered in Amsterdam, we have a global footprint with R&D hubs across Europe, the UK, North America and Israel. Our team of 1,500+ includes hundreds of engineers with deep expertise across hardware, software and AI R&D.
The role
We are looking for a Senior Technical Program Manager to drive complex initiatives spanning VPC, adjacent cloud services, and infrastructure layers. These may include launching VPC in new regions, supporting new hardware generations, improving platform scalability and resilience, evolving service architecture, and delivering new customer-facing networking capabilities.
You will work closely with developers, engineering managers, technical leads and product managers of VPC and adjacent teams. You will turn broad product and technical objectives into executable programs, define outcomes and acceptance criteria, expose dependencies and trade-offs, facilitate timely decisions, and coordinate delivery through validation, rollout, and operational readiness.
Requirements
- 5+ years of experience in technical program management, technical project management, engineering management, or a senior technical role involving the delivery of complex cross-team initiatives.
- A strong technical background: you should be able to participate meaningfully in discussions about cloud networking and distributed systems, understand system boundaries and failure modes, and challenge assumptions without needing to be the primary architect.
- Practical knowledge of networking fundamentals such as IPv4 and IPv6 addressing, routing, network isolation, NAT, firewalls and load balancing. You should be comfortable learning and reasoning about the architecture of a production cloud-networking platform.
- Ability to communicate complex technical topics clearly, facilitate decisions, and produce concise, actionable documentation.
- Proven experience coordinating initiatives involving multiple engineering teams with different priorities and dependencies.
- Ability to structure ambiguous problems, identify critical paths, manage risks, and adapt plans as requirements change.
- A practical, outcome-oriented approach and the ability to drive progress without relying on formal authority.
It will be an added bonus if you have:
- Experience building or operating public-cloud or other large-scale infrastructure.
- Experience with VPCs, SDN, network virtualization, or Linux networking.
- Experience leading programs focused on reliability, scalability, or operational improvement.
- Experience designing lightweight planning, risk-management, or operational-readiness processes for engineering organizations.
Benefits & Perks:
- Competitive compensation
- Career growth and learning opportunities
- Flexibility and ownership
- Collaborative and innovative culture
- Opportunity to work on impactful AI projects
- International environment and talented teams
What’s it like to work at Nebius:
