Dear Hiring Team,
I am excited to apply for the Staff Product Designer role at OpenSea. With deep experience leading end-to-end product design for complex consumer and platform experiences, I bring strong visual craft, mobile-first UX expertise, and a systems-oriented approach to turning ambiguous opportunities into intuitive products.
I would welcome the opportunity to partner closely with engineering and product teams, strengthen scalable design systems, and use AI-enabled workflows to improve both quality and team velocity. OpenSea’s focus on ownership, creative expression, and designing for millions of users strongly aligns with how I approach high-impact product work.
Thank you for your consideration. I would be glad to discuss how my product thinking, storytelling, and execution skills can help shape the future of the onchain economy.
Sample interview questions
I would begin by framing the customer problem, business objective, technical constraints, and success metrics with product and engineering partners. I would then use lightweight research, journey mapping, and rapid prototypes to test the riskiest assumptions, iterating toward a clear end-to-end experience and a measured launch plan.
I would prioritize clarity, hierarchy, and trust, especially for high-stakes actions such as trading or asset management. My process would combine mobile-first flows, reusable interaction patterns, usability validation, and close engineering collaboration to ensure the shipped experience is both polished and feasible.
I treat a design system as a product: I assess adoption and pain points, define principles and governance, and prioritize components that unlock the most consistency and delivery speed. I partner with engineers on durable implementation, documentation, accessibility, and contribution workflows so the system scales across teams.
I use AI to accelerate exploration, synthesis, content variations, prototyping, and workflow automation while retaining human judgment for product strategy, quality, accessibility, and brand expression. I would establish practical team practices that improve speed without compromising user trust or craft.
I make the rationale visible by connecting design decisions to user evidence, product goals, technical tradeoffs, and measurable outcomes. For disagreements, I invite critiques early, clarify decision ownership, and use prototypes or experiments to move the conversation from opinions to evidence.
OpenSea is building the gateway to the onchain economy – a rich world of communities, assets & creative expression uniquely possible with native digital ownership. Our products support millions of users and have helped shape onchain markets that exist today—and we’re just getting started.
Our goal is to build the highest-leverage, most AI-native team in crypto (and ideally beyond.) We believe that a small team (broken into even smaller teams with extreme ownership) can accomplish enormous results with the right people, the right tools, and the right company-wide investments in AI. We are building that team.
We’re looking for a highly skilled, creative and self-driven Staff Product Designer to join OpenSea’s small but mighty design team. In this role, you’ll help define the future of how people discover, trade, and interact with digital assets—working closely with engineers and fellow designers to bring clarity and craft to complex problems. Design plays a central role in shaping product direction and strategy, so this position is ideal for someone who combines strong product thinking with exceptional visual craft. Beyond designing great products, you’ll help evolve the systems, workflows, and AI-enabled practices that make the entire team more effective builders. If you’re energized by ownership, collaboration, and the chance to design for millions of users in a fast-evolving space, we’d love to meet you.

Explore and champion new design and AI-enabled workflows that improve team effectiveness and expand what’s possible for product development.
Communicate design rationale clearly and effectively across disciplines, helping align teams around shared goals.
Help shape the design culture at OpenSea by modeling strong craft, collaboration, and curiosity.

Exceptional visual design and interaction design skills, with a portfolio that demonstrates strong aesthetic judgement, systems thinking, and meticulous attention to detail
Experience building, scaling, or maintaining design systems, component libraries, or other frameworks that improve product quality, consistency, and team velocity
Experience collaborating closely with engineers to ship high-quality, technically informed designs
Experience leveraging AI tools and workflows to improve design quality, efficiency, and team effectiveness
Breadth across UI, UX, motion & interaction, with particular strength in visual design, craft, and aesthetic execution
Exceptional communication and storytelling skills, with the ability to influence and align cross-functional partners
