Cover letter sample
Dear Hiring Team,
I am excited to apply for the Software Engineer role at Sticker Mule. My full-stack engineering background, experience delivering scalable web and mobile products, and practical use of AI-assisted development align well with your product-focused, high-ownership environment.
I am comfortable working autonomously, prioritizing high-impact work, and shipping iteratively with technologies such as Go, TypeScript, React, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, and cloud platforms. I also communicate clearly in distributed teams and value building reliable, straightforward solutions for large user bases.
I would welcome the opportunity to help scale Sticker Mule Pro and contribute to its creator and business tools. Thank you for your consideration.
Sample interview questions
I would begin by clarifying the customer problem, success metrics, and the smallest valuable release. I would design a thin vertical slice across the API, data model, and React or Expo client, instrument key behavior, and ship behind a feature flag where appropriate. After validating usage and reliability, I would iterate based on product data and customer feedback.
I use AI tools to accelerate exploration, boilerplate generation, test creation, refactoring, and documentation, but I verify outputs through code review, tests, and direct understanding of the system. I treat AI-generated code as a starting point rather than an authority. This preserves speed while maintaining security, correctness, and maintainability.
I would investigate the slow path with tracing, metrics, query plans, and production-like load tests. Depending on findings, I might add indexes, remove N+1 access patterns, introduce pagination or caching, optimize GraphQL resolvers, and move expensive work to asynchronous processing. I would measure the improvement and add monitoring to prevent regressions.
I communicate early and directly, documenting the problem, options, trade-offs, recommendation, and required decision in the team’s async tools. If immediate alignment is needed, I schedule a focused discussion with a clear agenda and record the outcome afterward. This keeps remote work moving while ensuring decisions remain visible.
I would define a shared GraphQL contract and keep business logic in reusable backend services rather than duplicating it across clients. I would use a component-driven React and Expo architecture, platform-specific code only when necessary, automated testing for critical flows, and CI/CD pipelines that support safe staged releases. Observability and error reporting would be built in from the start.
