Cover letter sample

Dear Hiring Team,

I am excited to apply for the Bilingual Licensed Insurance Advisor role at PolicyMe. With LLQP licensing, consultative insurance-sales experience, and fluent French and English communication skills, I can guide customers through complex coverage decisions with clarity and empathy.

I am comfortable managing a high-volume inbound pipeline, documenting activity in CRM systems, and following up consistently across phone, email, and SMS. I would welcome the opportunity to help PolicyMe deliver a transparent, customer-first digital insurance experience while contributing ideas that improve team workflows.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sample interview questions
How would you help a client who is unsure which life, critical illness, or health and dental coverage is appropriate?

I start by asking open-ended questions about the client’s family, financial obligations, existing coverage, and primary concerns. I then explain only the options relevant to their situation in plain language, confirm their understanding, and document the rationale for the recommendation.

How do you manage a pipeline of 300–350 inbound leads per month without sacrificing service quality?

I use a structured CRM workflow with lead stages, priority flags, scheduled tasks, and clear next-step notes after every interaction. I prioritize time-sensitive applications and promised callbacks first, then maintain consistent follow-up cadences so no qualified lead is missed.

Describe your approach to handling an objection about price or coverage.

I acknowledge the concern, ask questions to understand the underlying objection, and respond with factual, easy-to-understand information rather than pressure. If the product is not appropriate, I would be transparent about that and focus on preserving the customer’s trust.

What practices would you use to communicate complex insurance concepts effectively in both French and English?

I would use short, well-structured explanations, avoid unnecessary insurance jargon, and ask the customer to summarize their understanding before moving forward. I would also tailor the communication channel and pace to the customer, ensuring French-speaking clients receive equally clear support.

Tell us about how you would contribute to improving an insurance-sales or customer-retention workflow.

I would review the data and feedback to identify the recurring friction point, propose a practical change, test it with the team where appropriate, and measure its effect on conversion, response time, or customer satisfaction. I would share learnings openly and refine the process based on results.

Overview of the role

We’re on a mission to modernize insurance, making it simpler, more accessible, and customer-first. The insurance industry is a $1T market that has remained largely untouched by the digital revolution, and PolicyMe is here to change that. As a remote-first, Toronto-based startup with big ambitions, we’re looking for a Bilingual Licensed Insurance Advisor to help us build the future of insurance in Canada and beyond.

On a typical day, you’ll be educating our customers on their insurance needs by answering challenging questions, dealing with advanced customer cases, and guiding them through our different products. You will be on the front lines of PolicyMe, managing all inbound leads through their policy applications, and ensuring they get the coverage they need (and feel good about the process) via phone, SMS and email.

How it is different from a typical insurance advisor role:

This is an opportunity to be part of a dynamic and rapidly growing startup, with opportunity for upward mobility. You’ll never have to prospect. All leads are inbound, qualified, and supported by a top-performing marketing and growth team. You’ll be involved in discussions across the organization on how to streamline operations, improve the customer experience and help build innovative insurance products. Ride a wave of industry disruption, instead of fighting against it.
