About this role.
Deepgram is seeking a Solutions Architect / Applied Engineer to lead technical delivery, pre-sales evaluations, and customer implementations for Arabic-speaking markets across MENA and EMEA. The role combines solution design, production deployment, proof-of-concepts, complex escalations, and the creation of reusable deployment patterns for Voice AI products. The successful candidate will serve as Deepgram’s first dedicated technical presence in the region and provide product feedback on Arabic-language model performance across dialects. Candidates need professional Arabic and English fluency, enterprise-facing engineering experience, and comfort working in a fast-changing, AI-first environment.

Sample interview questions
I would first identify the business workflow, target Arabic dialects, audio sources, required accuracy and latency, expected volume, security requirements, and deployment preferences. I would then map those needs to Deepgram capabilities, clarify integration points such as APIs, WebSockets, telephony, or existing cloud services, and define measurable success criteria for an evaluation. The output would be a scoped proof-of-concept plan with owners, risks, timeline, and production-readiness requirements.
I would begin with an architecture review covering data flow, authentication, observability, scalability, failure handling, and data residency. I would break the work into phased milestones, validate the integration in a controlled environment, and use documented acceptance criteria before progressing to production. During cutover, I would coordinate stakeholders, monitor technical and business metrics, maintain a rollback plan, and capture lessons learned as a reusable deployment playbook.
I would evaluate representative audio samples across relevant dialects, accents, domains, audio quality levels, speaking rates, and code-switching scenarios. Key measures would include transcription error patterns, latency, endpointing behavior, punctuation or formatting quality, and downstream task impact rather than relying only on aggregate accuracy. I would share structured findings with Product and Research teams, including reproducible examples, customer impact, and priority recommendations.
For executives, I would frame the risk in terms of customer experience, compliance, timeline, cost, and the decision required. For engineers, I would provide the technical cause, affected components, evidence, mitigation options, implementation effort, and validation method. In both cases, I would be transparent about uncertainty and recommend a clear next action.
After delivery, I would identify which parts of the solution are broadly applicable, such as integration patterns, architecture decisions, security controls, sample code, monitoring dashboards, or evaluation templates. I would convert these into documented reference architectures and automation where practical, validate them with the Applied Engineering team, and make them easy for customers and internal teams to adopt. This reduces future implementation time while preserving flexibility for customer-specific constraints.

Company Operating Rhythm
At Deepgram, we expect an AI-first mindset—AI use and comfort aren’t optional, they’re core to how we operate, innovate, and measure performance.
Every team member who works at Deepgram is expected to actively use and experiment with advanced AI tools, and even build your own into your everyday work. We measure how effectively AI is applied to deliver results, and consistent, creative use of the latest AI capabilities is key to success here. Candidates should be comfortable adopting new models and modes quickly, integrating AI into their workflows, and continuously pushing the boundaries of what these technologies can do.
Additionally, we move at the pace of AI. Change is rapid, and you can expect your day-to-day work to evolve just as quickly. This may not be the right role if you’re not excited to experiment, adapt, think on your feet, and learn constantly, or if you’re seeking something highly prescriptive with a traditional 9-to-5.
The Opportunity
Deepgram is investing in Arabic-language capabilities, and the customers who are building on them deserve a technical partner who speaks the language and knows the region firsthand. We are hiring an Applied Engineer to be that partner: the first member of our Applied Engineering team who is dedicated to Arabic-speaking markets. We would love for you to be based in the Middle East and North Africa (MENA), and the search is open across the broader EMEA region.
You’ll operate in the Solutions Architect role, leading the technical design and delivery of customer implementations across MENA, from kickoff through production cutover. Because you’ll be the first dedicated technical presence in the region, you’ll also take a strong share of pre-sales work, including the technical discovery, proof-of-concepts, and evaluations that earn the technical win for regional prospects. You’ll represent Deepgram in front of customers and at regional events, and you’ll bring what you learn back to our Product and Research teams, including how our Arabic models perform across dialects in production.
The region’s time zones overlap fully with EMEA business hours, so you’ll work alongside our EMEA Applied Engineers every day, and you’ll help to extend coverage toward APAC hours as the team grows.
About the Solutions Architect Role at Deepgram
Solutions Architects at Deepgram own the periods when a customer’s environment is changing (a new onboarding, a scaling deployment, a migration, a feature rollout). The work is hands-on and technical. You’ll design solutions that fit each customer’s stack and constraints, drive the deployment work itself, and turn what each engagement teaches you into reusable patterns that compress how long it takes the next customer to reach value. In this seat, the motion extends into pre-sales. For many regional prospects, you’ll be the first Deepgram engineer that they meet, and the same skills that make implementations succeed (listening well, designing to constraints, showing working software) also win evaluations.
You’ll be hired into the Applied Engineer position on our Applied Engineering team, which combines what other companies split into Sales Engineering, Solutions Architecture, Implementation, Forward-Deployed Engineering, and Technical Support, with a single growth ladder from Associate through Principal. The region is your focus; Applied Engineering is where you grow.
What You’ll Do
Own the technical design and delivery of customer implementations across MENA, from kickoff through production cutover
Lead technical discovery, proof-of-concept design, and evaluations for regional prospects, partnering with Account Executives through the sales cycle
Design solutions that fit each customer’s stack, constraints, and data-residency requirements
Represent Deepgram in front of Arabic-speaking customers and at regional events
Bring the voice of Arabic-language customers to our Product and Research teams, including feedback on Arabic model performance across dialects
Develop reusable implementation patterns, reference architectures, and deployment playbooks that the broader team and customers can reuse
Provide support for the most complex post-onboarding cases in the region, and help to grow our coverage into APAC hours over time
Time Allocation
40% — Customer implementation and scaling engagements
25% — Pre-sales technical work, including discovery, demos, proof-of-concepts, and evaluations
15% — Building reusable patterns, reference architectures, and automation
10% — Documentation, knowledge sharing, and product feedback
10% — Complex post-onboarding escalations for regional customers
Your First 90 Days
First 30 Days — Complete comprehensive onboarding to understand Deepgram’s technology, products, and competitive landscape. Gain proficiency with our core APIs and documentation. Shadow active implementation engagements and discovery calls across EMEA accounts to learn how the Applied Engineering team operates.
60 Days — Begin owning customer implementation engagements end to end, and lead technical discovery for regional prospects alongside Account Executives. Start contributing to reusable implementation patterns, and deliver your first Arabic-focused demo or evaluation asset.
90 Days — Own the technical relationship with your assigned regional accounts. Run evaluations and implementations concurrently, and establish a working feedback loop with our Product and Research teams on Arabic model performance.
