Bloomreach is hiring a Senior Quality Assurance Engineer to be the first QA specialist on its Personify team, supporting Loomi for Shopify. The role owns the team’s testing strategy across frontend and backend systems, balancing extensive automation with targeted manual testing. It requires hands-on experience with test planning, Playwright or Cypress, and automation for web applications, with collaboration across product, design, engineering, and QA. The stack includes TypeScript, Go, Playwright, Vitest/Jest, BrowserStack, GitLab, Kubernetes, Docker, Google Cloud, and observability tooling. The role is centered on in-person collaboration from the Prague office while operating under a remote-first policy.

Sample interview questions
I would first map the product’s critical user journeys, architecture, integrations, and highest-risk failure modes with product and engineering. I would define a pragmatic test pyramid, prioritize reliable API and component-level coverage, add a focused end-to-end suite for critical workflows, and establish clear quality gates and defect-triage practices.
I use stable, accessibility-oriented locators, isolate test data, avoid arbitrary waits, and rely on deterministic network and environment setup. I also run tests in parallel where appropriate, capture traces and screenshots on failure, and regularly remove flaky tests by addressing root causes rather than simply retrying them.
I would validate the pipeline at multiple levels: schema and transformation unit tests, API and integration tests using representative Shopify payloads, and end-to-end checks for data freshness and downstream personalization behavior. I would specifically cover retries, idempotency, malformed payloads, duplicate events, rate limits, and observability for failed synchronizations.
I would introduce fast unit and integration tests on merge requests, static checks where available, and a targeted Playwright smoke suite for deployable environments. For releases, I would add broader regression coverage, test-result reporting, artifact retention such as traces, and clear ownership for reviewing failures before promotion.
I focus on risk and maintainability rather than only identifying defects. For example, I ask whether edge cases, error handling, logging, observability, testability, and acceptance criteria are adequately covered, then offer specific, constructive suggestions that help the author improve the implementation.

About your role and the team
Loomi for Shopify is a new Bloomreach product designed to integrate all existing Bloomreach offerings with Shopify, the largest e-commerce platform, to deliver a personalized shopping experience. Key features will include Out-of-the-Box Widgets (pre-built components customers can readily use) and Data Pipelines (functionality to source data directly from Shopify into Bloomreach).

About the candidate
Must have:
- Past experience with QA Automation roles
- Professional experience building test plans
- Professional experience with test automation of FE and BE applications
- Professional experience with Playwright or Cypress
- Strong team player, that always supports his follow team mates
Should have:
- Building and owning a test strategy
- Adopting new AI ways of working and testing
- Experience extending CI/CD pipelines with automated gates
- Experience writing unit and integration tests
- Ability to conduct reviews and provide constructive feedback
Nice to have:
- Experience with GitLab, Jest and BrowserStack
