Sample interview questions
How do you move from ambiguous business goals to a validated UX direction?

I begin by aligning stakeholders on the problem, target users, success metrics, constraints, and available evidence. I then combine research, behavioral data, competitive analysis, and journey mapping to identify priority opportunities, prototype the most viable concepts, and validate them through usability testing before refining the recommendation.

Describe how you would improve a responsive website with a high drop-off rate in its conversion flow.

I would first review analytics, funnel data, device segmentation, session recordings, and customer feedback to identify where and for whom drop-off occurs. I would audit the flow for clarity, hierarchy, performance, accessibility, and form friction, then create hypotheses, prototype improvements, and validate them through usability testing and, where possible, A/B testing.

What artifacts do you create to ensure engineers can implement an experience accurately?

I provide annotated Figma designs, interaction states, responsive behavior guidance, user flows, component usage rules, content requirements, and acceptance criteria. I also participate in design handoff and implementation reviews so questions are resolved early and the delivered product remains aligned with the intended experience.

How do you handle stakeholder feedback that conflicts with user research findings?

I acknowledge the stakeholder's business context and clarify the underlying concern rather than treating the feedback as a design preference. I present the relevant evidence, explain trade-offs against user and business outcomes, and propose a lightweight test or measurable alternative when disagreement remains.

How do you incorporate accessibility into your UX process?

I address accessibility from the beginning by considering semantic structure, keyboard flows, focus behavior, readable content hierarchy, color contrast, form labels, error handling, and responsive interaction patterns. Before delivery, I review designs against applicable WCAG guidance and collaborate with engineering to confirm accessibility requirements are implemented and tested.
