Sample interview questions
How have you used Terraform to standardize and automate cloud infrastructure delivery?

I structure Terraform into reusable modules, manage state securely with remote backends and locking, and use pull-request reviews plus automated plan/apply workflows. I also apply policy checks and environment-specific variables so infrastructure changes are repeatable, auditable, and aligned with security standards.

Describe how you would improve the resiliency of a Kubernetes-based production platform.

I would begin with service-level objectives, workload criticality, and failure-mode analysis. Key improvements would include multi-zone architecture, right-sized requests and limits, autoscaling, health probes, controlled rollout strategies, tested backups and recovery, centralized observability, and regular resilience testing.

Tell us about your approach to handling a critical production incident.

I first stabilize customer impact through clear incident ownership, rapid triage, and safe mitigation such as rollback, scaling, or traffic controls. I maintain concise stakeholder communication throughout, then lead a blameless root-cause analysis that produces prioritized corrective actions, owners, and validation criteria.

How do you balance fast development delivery with infrastructure security and compliance?

I build security into delivery pipelines rather than relying on manual gates. This includes least-privilege IAM, secrets management, infrastructure and container scanning, policy-as-code, immutable deployment practices, audit logging, and automated remediation for common configuration drift.

What metrics would you use to evaluate infrastructure and platform operations?

I would track availability and SLO attainment, latency, error rates, saturation, mean time to detect and recover, deployment frequency, change failure rate, incident recurrence, capacity trends, and cost efficiency. I would present these metrics in actionable dashboards tied to customer impact and engineering priorities.
