Sample interview questions
Describe an ERP or SaaS implementation you managed from discovery through go-live.

I would explain the client context, the discovery approach used to document processes and requirements, the configuration decisions made, the project plan and risks, and the outcomes after UAT and go-live. I would emphasize measurable improvements such as reduced invoice cycle time, improved approval compliance, or increased user adoption.

How do you translate a customer's procure-to-pay process into system configuration?

I begin by mapping the current workflow, roles, approval thresholds, purchasing policies, supplier data, invoice exceptions, and integrations. I then distinguish required functionality from process preferences, recommend best-practice workflows, document configuration decisions, validate them with stakeholders, and test end-to-end scenarios before rollout.

How would you manage several client implementations with competing deadlines?

I would establish a clear project plan for each client with milestones, owners, dependencies, and risks, then review progress routinely in a shared delivery cadence. I would prioritize blockers affecting critical paths, communicate trade-offs early, and use consistent status reporting to keep customers and internal teams aligned.

What is your approach to supporting UAT for an AP automation implementation?

I would define realistic test scenarios covering invoice intake, coding, matching, approvals, exceptions, supplier workflows, integrations, and reporting. I would prepare business users, track defects and decisions in a structured log, retest fixes, and obtain formal sign-off only after critical business processes perform as expected.

How do you handle a customer request that conflicts with platform best practices?

I first seek to understand the business objective behind the request rather than assuming the requested solution is necessary. I explain the operational, maintenance, and adoption implications, offer standard configuration alternatives that meet the objective, and document any agreed exception along with its risks and ownership.
