Sample interview questions
I would review the deal's expected gross margin, customer lifetime value, product mix, payment terms, implementation costs, competitive context, and the strategic value of the account. I would compare the proposal with pricing guardrails and comparable transactions, then present clear trade-offs and recommended approval conditions to stakeholders.
I would first identify adoption barriers through usage data and seller feedback, such as confusing workflows, missing pricing rules, or inadequate training. I would prioritize high-impact configuration improvements, create role-specific enablement materials, establish office hours, and monitor adoption and quote-cycle metrics to demonstrate progress.
I would segment data by product, region, customer size, industry, sales channel, contract term, discount level, win rate, and margin. I would look for relationships between discounting and win rates, detect pricing leakage or inconsistent approvals, and translate findings into actionable pricing rules or negotiation guidance.
I establish the decision criteria early, document the key commercial and operational risks, and ensure each function has the same deal facts and timeline. I facilitate a focused discussion around customer value, margin, contractual exposure, and feasibility, then capture owners and decisions so the deal can move forward without ambiguity.
I use defined pricing inputs, approval matrices, and validation checks within CPQ or spreadsheets to reduce manual errors. Before release, I reconcile product configuration, discounting, currency, contract terms, billing assumptions, and margin calculations, while keeping an auditable record of exceptions and approvals.
