Sample interview questions
I have managed the complete award lifecycle in Carta, including creating grants from approved documentation, monitoring vesting, processing exercises and cancellations, updating employee terminations, and maintaining accurate cap-table records. I use documented review steps and regular reconciliations to ensure Carta reflects approved company actions.
I would first define the transaction population and effective dates, then compare source approvals, Carta transaction history, payroll files, and accounting entries. I would identify whether the issue stems from timing, data entry, an unprocessed transaction, or an approval gap, coordinate correction with the relevant owners, and document both the resolution and preventive control.
I use plain language and separate factual education from personal tax or investment advice. I explain the award type, number of shares, vesting schedule, exercise process, important deadlines, and where the employee can access their records, then provide written resources and direct tax-specific questions to qualified advisors.
I would require documented approvals, standardized grant and transaction checklists, segregation of preparation and review where feasible, periodic Carta-to-source reconciliations, and controlled access to sensitive equity data. I would also maintain an audit trail for approvals, changes, exceptions, and employee communications.
I would use approved tools for low-risk tasks such as drafting internal process documentation, creating communication outlines, or organizing non-sensitive research. I would avoid entering personal, payroll, cap-table, or transaction-level information into unapproved systems and would validate all AI-assisted output before relying on it.
