Sample interview questions
I have administered awards from grant setup and participant communications through acceptance, vesting, release, exercise, forfeiture, and termination. I maintain strong audit trails, validate approvals and plan terms, reconcile transactions to source records, and coordinate closely with payroll, tax, legal, and vendors at each stage.
I would use a documented checklist covering participant eligibility, award quantities, vesting dates, market value, withholding elections, tax rates, payroll files, transfer-agent instructions, and post-event reconciliations. I would also require review evidence, investigate exceptions before release, and retain support for SOX testing and audit purposes.
I understand the importance of timely Forms 3 and 4 filings, insider tracking, transaction data validation, filing calendars, and coordination with Legal and filing providers. My approach is to maintain complete insider records, use documented approval workflows, monitor deadlines proactively, and reconcile filed transactions to equity-system activity.
I would first isolate the affected population and transaction type, compare source records and integration logs, and determine whether the issue is related to employee data, award data, timing, or mapping. I would correct validated data through controlled processes, document the root cause and remediation, and work with HRIS or the vendor to prevent recurrence.
I translate technical requirements into clear, audience-appropriate guidance that explains key dates, available actions, tax implications, and where to obtain help. For executives and insiders, I provide concise compliance-focused instructions and confirm critical steps in writing; for broader employee groups, I use training materials, FAQs, and responsive support channels.
