Sample interview questions
I would begin by understanding the team's current workflow and pain points, then introduce the most valuable Scrum practices gradually. I would explain the purpose behind each ceremony, facilitate concise sessions, gather feedback, and adapt the implementation while maintaining core Agile principles.
I would first clarify the impediment, its impact, owner, and urgency with the team. I would help identify possible resolution paths, escalate or coordinate with the appropriate stakeholders when needed, track progress visibly, and communicate status until the issue is resolved or a workable mitigation is in place.
I would use metrics as learning tools rather than performance targets, such as sprint-goal achievement, cycle time, throughput, work-item aging, predictability, and retrospective action completion. I would review trends with the team and pair the data with qualitative discussion to identify practical improvement experiments.
I would create psychological safety by setting clear ground rules and using structured formats such as silent writing, anonymous input, round-robin sharing, or small-group discussion. I would give people time to think before asking for input and ensure all perspectives are acknowledged without forcing anyone to speak.
PI Planning aligns Agile teams around shared objectives, dependencies, risks, and plans for the upcoming Program Increment. I could support the Release Train Engineer by helping prepare agendas and materials, facilitating team breakouts, capturing dependencies and risks, keeping sessions on time, and following up on agreed actions after the event.
