Sample interview questions
I begin by documenting known requirements, assumptions, dependencies, and open decisions in a shared project plan. I establish a change-control process with the customer and internal technical leads, assess schedule and resource impacts, and obtain alignment before incorporating changes into the delivery baseline.
I would quickly identify the root cause, quantify the impact, and convene the accountable stakeholders to develop recovery options. I would communicate the risk transparently to the customer, recommend a realistic mitigation plan, assign owners and dates, and track progress through frequent status reviews until the project is stabilized.
I use a clear governance structure with defined owners, regular status meetings, written action logs, and a single source of truth for scope, milestones, risks, and decisions. I tailor updates to each audience while ensuring commitments made during pre-sales are visible, feasible, and consistently understood by delivery teams.
I would work with subject-matter experts to define technical objectives, interfaces, acceptance criteria, test plans, environmental constraints, and customer responsibilities early in the engagement. I would then sequence dependencies carefully, maintain a risk register, and use milestone-based reviews to validate readiness before progressing to deployment or acceptance testing.
I acknowledge the issue promptly, clarify the business and operational impact, and establish a clear communication cadence with the customer. Internally, I ensure the escalation contains reproducible details and priority context, then provide honest progress updates and coordinate a resolution, workaround, or revised plan with accountable owners.
