Sample interview questions
I would begin by mapping the customer’s end-to-end development and construction workflow, including stakeholders, current systems, draw processes, reporting requirements, approvals, and control points. I would then identify measurable pain points and success criteria, validate integration and data needs, and use those findings to build a prioritized solution narrative and demonstration.
I would create a shared storyline around business outcomes, then adjust the depth for each audience. Executives would see risk reduction, transparency, and ROI; finance leaders would see controls, reporting, and cash-flow visibility; operations teams would see workflow efficiency, approvals, and day-to-day usability. I would tie each demonstration segment directly to discovery findings rather than giving a generic product tour.
I would quantify baseline costs such as manual processing time, rework, delayed approvals, reporting effort, payment friction, and financial-risk exposure. Next, I would model expected improvements using conservative assumptions, validate them with the prospect, and present value in terms of labor savings, faster cycle times, improved visibility, and reduced risk. The model would clearly distinguish verified customer inputs from assumptions.
I would first clarify the business outcome and data flow behind the request rather than immediately committing to a specific integration. I would assess available configuration, existing connectors, APIs, implementation alternatives, and the effort or risk involved with Product and Engineering. I would communicate transparently, position viable options, and document the recurring need as structured product feedback.
I prepare thoroughly on the customer’s business model, project lifecycle, financing structure, systems, and likely control requirements. During conversations, I use precise questions, avoid overstating product capabilities, and connect recommendations to concrete operational and financial outcomes. Credibility comes from demonstrating domain fluency, listening carefully, and following through on commitments.
