Sample interview questions
How have you improved BDR team performance while maintaining a positive, high-accountability culture?

I establish a small set of transparent leading and lagging metrics, use regular coaching sessions to diagnose individual performance gaps, and recognize both strong behaviors and results. I pair accountability with practical support such as call reviews, role plays, and targeted enablement plans.

Describe how you would align BDRs, Account Executives, Marketing, and Revenue Operations around pipeline goals.

I would define shared funnel metrics and service-level expectations for lead quality, follow-up, qualification, and handoffs. Regular operating reviews with dashboard-based insights and structured feedback loops would allow each team to identify bottlenecks and agree on measurable improvements.

What metrics would you use to manage a BDR organization?

I would monitor activity quality, connection and reply rates, meetings booked, meetings held, qualified opportunities created, pipeline sourced, conversion rates by stage, ramp time, and attainment. I would segment results by rep, campaign, channel, persona, and territory to distinguish coaching needs from process issues.

Tell us about a time you led through ambiguity or a significant process change.

I would explain the business outcome that needed to be achieved, clarify the few decisions and metrics that mattered most, test an initial approach quickly, and communicate frequently with the team. I would use feedback and performance data to refine the process while keeping the team focused on priorities.

How would you build an enablement program for a growing remote BDR team?

I would start with a skills assessment and funnel analysis, then create a repeatable curriculum covering messaging, discovery, objection handling, tools, account research, and qualification. The program would combine live practice, recorded examples, manager coaching, certifications, and measurable before-and-after performance indicators.

Opportunity details

About this role.

Superside is looking for a Business Development Manager to build and lead a team of Business Development Representatives (BDRs) who will fuel our next stage of growth. This is a chance to shape how we generate pipeline, working shoulder-to-shoulder with Marketing, Revenue Ops, and our Account Executive team, and putting your stamp on a fully remote team you’ll coach to hit ambitious targets.

We’re looking for a seasoned people leader who thrives in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment and is comfortable leading through ambiguity. You bring your own ideas to the table and have a proven record of executing on goals and initiatives, not just setting them. You care deeply about your team’s success, lead by example, and know how to build a culture of high-performance and real growth, one where BDRs stay motivated, sharpen their skills, and do their best work no matter where in the world they’re logging in from.

What you’ll do

  • Lead, mentor, and energize a team of BDRs, pushing them to hit and over achieve their targets.
  • Team up with Revenue Ops to turn data into sharp, strategic decisions that drive team performance.
  • Partner with Marketing to design and launch lead-gen strategies that keep Account Executives’ pipelines full.
  • Collaborate closely with the AE sales team to align on handoffs, feedback loops, and shared pipeline goals.
  • Spot skill gaps and co-create enablement programs and training to build your team’s skills.
  • Bring fresh ideas to the table and recommend process and campaign improvements that move the needle.
  • Champion your team’s growth by building real career paths and guiding each person’s development.

What you’ll need to succeed

  • Proven track record in business development, including at least 2 years managing a team.
  • A seasoned people leader who can build a culture of high performance and growth, and who genuinely cares about their team’s success.
  • Comfortable leading through ambiguity in a fast-paced, fast-changing environment.
  • A strong bias toward execution, with a track record of turning ideas and initiatives into delivered results.
  • Experience partnering cross-functionally with sales teams (AEs), Marketing, and Revenue Ops to align on shared goals.
  • Hands-on experience building or co-creating training and enablement content.
  • Results-driven mindset with a history of hitting (and beating) targets.
  • A data-informed, process-minded approach; you like knowing why something works.
  • Strong communication skills and a lead-by-example mentality.
  • Sharp analytical and problem-solving instincts.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, marketing, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
